General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Cutting Board Finish
« on: January 07, 2013, 11:56:46 am »
Mostof the store bought finishes are food safe these days, after they are cured.  NOTE  not dry but cured. I may take a few days before they are fully cured. I use a beeswax/mineral oil paste on the puzzles I cut for small kids.  even ho other finishes are ok, this appeases the parents. Pluse its quick and easy to apply and mkes the wood look better, not shiny just brings out the grain more.

The Coffee Shop / The Haircut

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you ' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Member of The Senate came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of The Senate was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Members of The

Senate lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of a country and the politicians who run it.

Google Bandsaw Tuneup and you will find a wealth of information.  It is improtant to have your saw set up correctly. Just as in scrolling the saw setup is very improtant.  Tension, guide adjustment and squareness ( is that  word) will contribute to a better finished product.  I would bet your saw is not "project ready"

Dixie All the advice given is great.  Probably the best advice is what the native New Yorker answered to the tourist who asked how to get to Carnegie Hall.  His answer  practice practice practice

I use either a 3 or 4 TPI blade for resawing.  I also use the widest blade I can.  What saw do you have?
