The Coffee Shop / Re: Crappy Weather.....
« on: December 13, 2010, 08:40:03 am »
Had a laugh yesterday when I opened the door to let the dog out.  When he saw the snow and the wind blowing, he backed up sat down and said "No way!".  He did however go out later and played in the snow.  He won't stay out very long as his ears get really cold.
It is 7 this am but feels like -4.

So much truer today than when started.  16 here this am with strong wind and snow on the ground with more falling.  I think with the strong wind that the snow on the ground here actually fell in Canada but got this far before it reached the ground.
Fortunately, before this hit, I moved one of my saws into the kitchen so I can keep cutting and the coffee pot is close by.

I use naval jelly to remove rust with steel wool then Johnson's paste wax.  I haven't tried on the tables but spray oven cleaner works great on cleaning router bits.

You can often get some good wood at a cabinet shop as they will often give you cutoffs or maybe sell some and they use a good quality.  I found a mill that produces hardwood flooring and can get scrap at 50 cents a bf or they have some lumber for sale.

Quite a few years ago, I was a 6th grade geography teacher and during the two weeks prior to Christmas break, the students researched Christmas around the world and did a presentation to the class.  Giving out samples of traditional foods from their country was worth an extra 50 points.  Needless to say, I usually gained weight during the presentation week.  Sure wish we had the internet at that time.

Happy Birthday Steve (one of the most giving persons around).  You will be blessed for all that you do for others.  May all of your wishes come true.

A doctor was addressing a large audience.
"The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here years ago.  Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining.  High-fat diets can be dangerous.  But there is one food that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it.  Can anyone tell me what that is?"
After several seconds of quiet, a 75 ear old man in the front row raised his hand and softly said, "wedding cake."

I can't find the address but that looks like something that the guy in Spain did.  He had a lot of the victorian patterns.

PONDERISMS

1? I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

2? There are two kinds of pedestrians: the quick and  the dead.

3? Life is sexually transmitted.

4? Healthy is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

5? The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

6? Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

7? Have you noticed since everyone has a camcorder these days no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to?

8? Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

9? All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

10? In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

11? How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

12? Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, 'I think I'll squeeze these dangly things and drink whatever comes out'?

13? If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

14? Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed if they are going to look up there anyway?

15? If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

16? If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

17? Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

18? Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster?

19? Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

20? Do you ever wonder why you gave me your email address?

I like the idea of the bag held by magnets.  Easily removed.  I have some magnets from old microwaves that would be perfect.  I also use them to hold blade change wrenches on my table saw so I don't have to go looking for them.

The Coffee Shop / Re: VETERANS HONOR FLIGHT
« on: November 13, 2010, 09:17:25 am »
I think next week they are sending the 7th flight this year from this area.  They will be doing more next year.  It is a moving sight to see pictures of the veterans in DC.
I had lunch at Applebee's on Thur. and was really moved at the reception they gave veterans.  Sure different from my active duty days when we were asked not to wear our uniforms off base.

I have an HP laserjet printer and for some reason it will not print verbage on PDF documents.  The pictures print fine.  I tried HP but for some reason, their system says it cannot communicate with my printer.  Does anyone have some suggestions?

The Coffee Shop / Re: Tomorrow, U.S. Citizens...VOTE Wisely!
« on: November 02, 2010, 09:43:47 am »
I'm off to the polls but it sure isn't fun as I think I am voting against rather than for.  And yes, some of us had to wait for 21 to start voting.  My first vote was absentee while in the service.

The Coffee Shop / Re: Retiring Soon
« on: November 02, 2010, 09:38:20 am »
Retirement is great most of the time.  I think that each time I try it.  One time after retiring, they opened a Home Depot and I thought that looks like fun so I wound up working there for 5 yrs.  Retired again and moved to MO last year and have puttered around the house and shop and now just got certified to substitute teach so guess I am unretired again.
