General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: need help

Most hawk saws have dc motors with electronic speed controls.  I would suggest calling Bushton Mfg as they now produce the line and parts.  They can probably point you the right way.

Good Luck

I wondered what was up, but figured that Steve would get it back and running when he had a chance.  Lets us know how much we depend on the site doesn't it?

I am no expert, but I would avoid reducing the pipe size whenever possible, and when necessary do it at the last possible point.  Reducing the pipe size will drastically affect the amount of air flow.  Many of my tools absolutely need the 4" size.  My planner, joiner, and drum sander would not function properly with a 1 1/2 inch outlet.  I would also recommend grounding the pvc for static discharge.  For some reason my drum sander produces a large amount of static when in use.

The Coffee Shop / Woodworking show Tampa
« on: March 12, 2013, 11:00:44 am »
This friday the Woodworking show opens in Tampa.  I go every year and I always get excited about it.  No telling what I will find that I "can't live without" this year!  Peachtree always has a huge display, as does Woodline, Carter band saw products and many others. For me it's like being a kid in a toy store.   Anybody else in the area going?

Router inlay into woodwork like a box top would be gorgeous and not difficult!  Great job!

If he is right handed he might consider learning to shoot left handed so he doesn't have to release the throttle.  Fine looking rig!  I always had a pistol when I was riding, but it wasn't mounted and it wasn't visible.

Gabby the biggest I ever caught was in the month of February.  The cold slows them down, but doesn't stop them.
Keefie, last time I looked, a rattlesnake doesn't have any legs.

Thanks for the invitation Rob, but we get all 4 seasons here to: Grouper season, snook season, trout season, and snapper season.  The gators like tourist season.  They keep asking us to send more down.

6 foot rattlesnakes don't give me a twitch Gabby.  Brave is living somewhere with cold and snow like you!  I couldn't hack that!

I used the preglued panels from Lowes to build some rocking horses for the charity event last year on the WoodWhisperer's site.  They are a bit on the brittle side.

If you want it to last I wouldn't use two 12 inch wide pieces.  There is a good chance the will warp over time and spoil your project.  It's more trouble, but would work better to use at least three pieces glued together to get your width.  If you take all three from the same plank, flip the center one so that the project resists curling with the grain.
You mentioned a router.  If you have a router table you can use that to joint the edges if you have no jointer.

I happened to be on Ebay last night and someone has listed a brand new, never assembled RBI 226 vs, still in the box.  I think the current price was about $500 if I remember correctly.  Had good pictures of it to.  It is in Clearwater, so that is close to me, but I just don't need it.  It would be a duplicate of mine.

Thanks for the info on the clamps.  Maybe i will just order the top one and give it a try.

You might be right Gabby!  I think I would just have to sell the house & everything and go live on a boat.  Get back into diving and spearfishing and riding motorcycles and all the things that are too dangerous for me to do now.  Maybe I wouldn't give up the shop.  I knew a guy once who lived in a storage unit.  I could always rent a unit, move in a small camper and sleep in it.
