I use spray adhesive to hold the pattern on the piece. I then cover with clear package tape. After cutting I remove tape, which takes off most of the remainig paper. If needed mineral spirits clean up and removes anything that is left.

Great work Gary. I don't believe that I have the patience to complete that. You did a fine job. Maybe I will get up enough nerve to try. I use lacquer almost exclusively, I like the way it dries so quick and it looks good.
