Computer questions / Re: what kind of printer do you use
« on: January 08, 2011, 09:50:42 am »
I also bought a Lexmark to let me do color prints and had sticker shock when I had to replace the cartridges.  It is almost cheaper to buy another printer.  I also have an HP laser that I bought in 1994.  It is black and white but have only bought 3 or 4 toner cartridges since.  They are almost a $100 but last a long time.  They are supposed to do 5000 copies but that would depend on the amount of black on the copy.

Thx Bill.  I think I have the latest version of Adobe but will check.  I will have to look to see if I have the install disk for the printer.

I think we need a translator for this area.  I know my computer is a Dell and my printer is an HP 2100 Laser.  Oh yes, I do know that I have Windows XP.  My only problem is that I can't print pdf files from the computer to the printer.  It will print diagrams fine but wording is nonsense.

Would you believe.  Went to the pantry and not a black-eyed pea to be found.  So much for this year.

If you only count open floor space, I could probably win but the shop building is 24x40 and you have to sidle sideways to get through.
And Bill P before you complain about being too old, when you were born I had tried college and was in the navy.

The Coffee Shop / Ice fishing
« on: December 27, 2010, 10:36:45 am »
Two men from warmer climes wanted to do some ice fishing, and took off for Canada to try it.  The lake they picked was frozen, so they stopped at a nearby shop to get bait and tackle.
"We're going to need an ice pick," one man said.  They bought one and left.  Two hours later, the other man returned and told the shop owner he'd need to buy a couple more ice picks.  The owner sold him two picks and the man left.
An hour later, the first man came back to the shop and said, "We're going to need all the ice picks you've got."
The owner couldn't believe it, "How are you fellows doing?" he asked.
"Not very well at all," the man replied, "We don't even have the stupid boat in the water yet."

I agree.  There's not enough that can be said about Steve and what he does for the art of scrolling.  His forum has become a caring family that I appreciate very much.  Didn't mean to get so slobbery.

Just thought I would show you how the ornament patterns designed by Steve are being used.

I appreciate the feedback.  I have also considered the fact that most of my family is gone (I didn't have children), my lungs are at 60 percent, my knees are going and my vision is to the point that I can't do fine cutting anymore.  All these things considered, I'm just not sure that wasting the resources for a few more years may not be the best alternative.

Thx to Julie for the mesquite ornament.  Had a little accident as it had a break but I glued it and no one will ever know.

I agree with you Termite.  I quit the other mag as it had too little fretwork.  I don't do intarsia so those patterns are wasted on me.
I like the angels by Jacob Fowler and have been working on an idea for the cake stand by Sue Mey.

Moved mine into the kitchen next to the table.  Is convenient to the coffee pot and besides they claim we need more fiber in our diet.

Had an ultrasound Fri (no, I am not pregnant) and my aneurism has reached 4.7 cm.  Will have a CT scan next month as I am getting close to the surgery time.  The surgeon says at least a week in the hospital and 3 mos recovery.
I am debating about whether or not I want to go through all this or just let it go and take whatever happens.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: stool

I use a bar stool with a back as I need a support to put my feet up.  My knees don't like me sitting with my feet flat on the floor.  It swivels so is convenient getting up and down.
