To add to Torstens questions: Does the arm move up and down as fast as the Delta does?
I looked at a picture of it, it appears to be variable speed. If the arm is not moving at a comparable speed to the Delta when both are running on high speed, then it could be a bad potentiometer (The little dial you turn to change the speed). But really need more info to diagnose the problem properly.

Gabby, I cheated! I only drew one quarter of the frame then just duplicated it then flipped and moved it around as necessary to get the complete frame. I actually thought it took me along time to do, spent alot of today on it, off and on. I guess actual working time was about 3 hours which most of was done while I watched the Heat beat up on the Celtics ;D.

MrsN, Thanks, and I'm pleased you liked it enough to grab a copy. I honestly never gave any thought to cutting it myself, but I guess it is a nice frame, fortunately I already have a copy. :D

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Zero clearance insert-Kinda
« on: April 23, 2011, 01:38:59 am »
I was cutting some small individual letters and had a problem with the blade clearance and getting a decent cut. Since my saw will not allow for a normal type of zero clearance insert, and I was desperate, I took a piece of plywood sanded it down to 320 grit and waxed and buffed it a couple times. Then I put it on the saw cut a slit down it and my probs were solved. It waxed up really nicely to where I think it is actually smoother than the saws table. I just hold it on with a couple clamps that remove easily. An added benefit is that when my blade starts to get dull during normal use, instead of changing the blade I slap the insert on and now I have fresh teeth from the same blade cus it sits higher. Not suggesting this for anyone else, but it works for me and I thought it was kinda cool.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: portrait patterns

Hey Clive, I too just started making my own portraits and patterns with both Inkscape and Gimp. Gimp works best for portrait patterns and Inkscape for all other patterns. I would highly recommend watching all of the videos at this link, he covers how to make patterns in both programs and they are very good tutorials.

Very nice I like it a lot. Did you build the light into it? or is it just a background light? its a little hard to tell from the angle. I too, am curious about the backer used.

Hey Schmulik, First let me say Welcome, I think this might be the video you are looking for. Unless your scroll saw table doesn't tilt, you should be able to make these cuts with any scroll saw.

Hey Tinker, That is a great site! There is some very nice line art there that can be easily turned into cutable patterns. I bookmarked it.

Thanks for the link.
And Welcome to this site.
