The Coffee Shop / Re: Finally back in the shop...

Glad you are feeling better Russ.  I find a little simple saline nasal spray nightly seems to sooth the sinuses without the side effects of chemical decongestants etc.  We have had our ups and downs with the weather lately haven't we?  Supposed to hit the mid 80's today.

My wife & I have gone through periods that felt like "the revolt of the machines" when one appliance after the other just kept dying.  You will get through it and have new tools to show for it!

General Scroll Saw Talk / How to save $ on new tools
« on: April 08, 2013, 10:57:45 am »
Since I do all types of woodworking, I also subscribe to Lumberjocks.com.  I had heard there about a way of saving $ that I used yesterday to my advantage.   It was time to replace my old, noisy air compressor with a new one.  I shopped online at both Lowes and Home Depot to find comperable units and settled on a 60 gallon, 230 volt unit.  When I went to the stores I took along a coupon printed from Harbor Freight offering 20% off any single item.  I asked at each store and Home Depot agreed to match the offer.  That saved me abouut $90 off the  cost of a $458 tool, just for asking.  Individual stores may or may not comply, so ask for a manager and show the coupon which is readily available online..

Brag Forum / Re: Made a miter sled
« on: April 04, 2013, 11:17:45 pm »
The miter sled looks good to me.  I have also made one and use it.  I have also used the method Rapid Roger uses, but I really like setting the blade on my radial arm saw at 45* (also with a wixey) and then doing the same thing.  I have outfitted the fence on my radial arm saw with a Kreg track rail and stop blocks which insure the I can duplicate the exact length of my pieces.  I also like putting keys in the mitered corners and made a jig for the router table to let me use a dovetail bit to cut dovetail keys.  The great thing about boxes is that you never exhaust the multitude of ways to build one.

That is impressive Jim!  Do you use a valve, or does in draw and blow from the end?

Tip:  Don't argue with the little woman (or man) inside giving the directions.  They get pissed!

What kind did you get?  Iphone or Droid?

It wasn't bad at all.  Just 4 holes and a sore stomach, but me with a sore stomach is like a giraffe with a sore throat.

I almost fell for it!  I was about to tell my wife that no matter how many times I have said the opposite, you really can have 1 too many clamps.

I mentioned in another post that I was having gall bladder surgery today.  It's out and I am home.  Sore but successful.  Thanks for the good wishes that were posted.

Sorry you have to go through all that King!  I am going in tomorrow to have my gall bladder removed.  I am hoping that my gall bladder weighs at least 30 pounds. That would solve 2 problems at once.

Hope all is successful for you and resolves the issues.

so sad Glenn.  It's something all of us animal lovers go through, but it doesn't make it easier.
