Looking for a better shape in that pose of a puppy.  I should have been more clear.  Too look like a labrador.  I have no Idea why she does not want the ears defined more but she was specific in that and the tail raised a bit.

I have a client who lives in New Jersey and recently their puppy a black lab died.  I've done a couple of other projects for her in memory of her daughters puppy.

She now want me to make a yard art approximately 18" tall and she want it to look like the attached sketch.
She does not want the ears defined and wants it to look like a puppy with the tail raised like in her sketch.

I shared several clip arts from google and bing but she insists it must look similar to her sketch and nothing I have found matches it.

Can you help me out here, pretty please?

I apologize for the quality of the scan.  You may need to do your own art work.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: what am i doing wrong?

Did you cover the stack with clear packing tape?  I'd keep the speed of the saw up & slow down your feed rate of the work piece.

edited to say  I missed that you are using a #1 blade on this project.  Move up to at least a #3 or #5.

I love my grizzly 14 "  with the riser kit for re-sawing.  Little over 500.00 though I think.

actually it is on sale right now.  http://www.grizzly.com/products/14-Deluxe-Bandsaw/G0555LX

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: dewalt side to side blade adjustment issue
« on: January 18, 2014, 11:06:42 am »
Sounds to me like your blade is not straight up and down in the holders.  You may need to adjust the set screws.  Over time they can become loose and move.  Once you have them re-aligned and the blade is straight up and down again be sure and use some BLUE loctite.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: What is the Best Glue ??

One thing to remember, as scrollers we rarely need a lot of strength for our projects.  Who is going to try and pull apart a backer board?  I use Titebond11 and Fusion and they work great.  If i know ahead of time I will need to glue, I will tape off the areas that will be painted so i can keep a raw surface when it is feasible.

You may remember my asking for assistance on this project.

Customer wanted me to make a desk name plate for his sister which contained both her children's' names on one plaque. It seemed like an easy request since the names with the exception of one letter in both names was a mirror image of the others name.
By inserting a heart shape and overlaying the different letters which dd not correspond with the mirror image this is what i came up with.

I use mahogany with a black walnut lamination to divide the names and give the appearance they were stand alone names, and then used the black walnut as a contrasting color for the applique of the letters D and Y.
Hope the customer likes it as much as I do.
First is a top view showing the lamination.
2nd Is Adam
3rd is mirror image for Maya.
