Thanks everyone for the nice words.

Woodchuck, the wood is just a hair over 3/4" thick.

I've had this wood sitting in my basement for about two years and couldn't find anything to use it for. Then I saw Jacob Fowler's pattern in the previous issue of Creative Woodworks and Crafts. The wood is soft maple and is 26" tall and 13" wide. There are 127 cuts in the big pattern and 18 in the smaller one at the top. The part at the top was my wife's idea. (I knew I kept her around for something.) Black photo matting on the back and four coats of satin lacquer.  C & C welcome.

Ditto on 1/16" plywood for bookmarks. If you want different colors, just seal the plywood then stain. I just did about 50 bookmarks that way and they make a good contrast to plain plywood. I stack at least 10 at a time, with less detail I sometimes stack more.

I've never used lemon oil, but Steve told me he uses it as a quick finish for his videos and photos. I don't think lemon oil is a good finish for durability.

Love it. Just goes to show that things aren't always as they appear.

If you have some scrap plywood, you could cut two 8" x 8" squares, hinge one edge and clamp the bottom piece to the drill press table. Then cut small blocks to tilt this jig to certain angles. Be sure to mark the little blocks. This would give you a little sturdier work surface.

Danny, the only problems with Plexiglass it scratches easily and dust seems to cling to it. Of course, any free material will find a use.
