I've got an Mp3 player going and I listen to traditional folk music - Peter, Paul & Mary, Kingston Trio, etc.

Thanks for all the great replies. I watched the video and it looks like it should be very "do-able". I think I'm going to stick to the wooden eggs, though. You guys that want to do the real eggs..... good luck!

Thank again,

General Scroll Saw Talk / Easter egg cross
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:03:11 pm »
Has anyone cut the easter egg cross that Steve offered as a pattern last year? I would like to cut a few for a show I have 2 weeks before Easter. It looks like it may be a challenge. How would the pattern be applied to a wooden egg? Can I learn something from someone else's mistakes? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Ray F

General Scroll Saw Talk / Finishing question
« on: December 15, 2010, 09:36:39 am »
Is there a finishing product that does not darken light colored wood, but still brings out the wood's grain? I currently use Danish Oil Natural by WATCO but do not like how it tends to darken maple and ash, although I really like how it finishes walnut and other darker woods. I read the thread about lemon oil. Does it tend to darken light wood also? I always use the WATCO poly spray as a final finish. Thanks for your help

I have ordered from them and the wood I got was good. The only problem is the time it takes. You email them an order, then they bill you for the order, then a few days later for the shipping. They bill the actual shipping, not an estimate,  so it does seem to save some money that way. It does take a while though. My first order took 15 days to get to me from order to recieving, (and they ship from a town 60 miles away from me). I placed a second order on 9/29, got the invoice on 10/1 and paid it that day, still have not heard what the shipping will be. The prices are very good, the shipping cost is good, but don't be in a hurry.

Dav-

I know what you're saying. We keep doing the same shows year after year and they've gone form very good to poor lately. We're thinking about trying some new shows next year and sitting out on the ones we have been doing. It will probably mean some traveling though.

Very, very cool. I really love the plywood shakers. How do you get them so smooth?

Steven-

I grew up just a couple of blocks away from you, I was on 9th Ave right around Williams St. Had a good friend in HS that lived around 7th & Sherman.
Sure is a small world.

Keep the train rolling! Is that a Chicago Northwestern train? Looks like that logo to me. Where I was raised in South Milwaukee we had a Chicago Northwestern track running right through our backyard. Many memories of playing on the track and watching the trains, waving at the engineers. Where in Wisconsin are you? I live in the Lacrosse area now.

Pattern Requests. / Turkey napkin holder
« on: October 01, 2010, 02:45:25 pm »
Wonder if anyone would have a pattern for a turkey napkin holder. I remember seeing one once that has two pieces that are slotted and fit together. One piece is the turkey's body and the other piece fans out to hold the napkins. If anyone has a pattern to share or could tell me where to get one I'd really apprciate it.

Thanks for any help,

Ray F
