Oh yea I been there done that, back then driving truck without AC hauling cotton seed, self loaded, sweating like a horse with cotton trash down my neck, 90 deg. at midnight. Haul it to Lousiana to a cotton seed mill and back for another load. Love it! Yea right!

Ain't it the truth!...feels like the corner barber shop of old days!

Sit around and chat and have a good time even if you don't need a haircut!

Where did those places go????

~~~GB~~~
They went the way of the Dodo bird EXTINCT can't even find a real barber any more, have to get an appointment at the local hair SALON and have to explain exactly what you want done every time you go in to get your hair cut. Arrrgggg. I miss my barber!  :'(
You missed a big one Chachi.
A bush pilot / fishing guide in Alaska returned to his Super Cub bush plane to find both tires flat and the whole fuselage (body of the plane) from the cockpit to the tail shredded. He got on the radio and had new tires, a couple cases of Duct tape and some plastic tarp flown out to him. Replaced the chewed up tires, and re-covered the fuselage and the tail with plastic tarp and duct tape and flew the plane home for permanent repairs. It seems the ice chests he used to ship the customers catch in smelled too good for a hungry bear to resist. Then it got mad after not finding anything to eat and tore up the plane! True story I've seen the photos online.
Thanks Chachi I'll give that a try. How do you find a particular video if you don't know the name for it?
Pretty hard to get the BOSS to move all her quilting stuff, she really doesn't like to share.  ::) Especially if it would get saw dust all over everything. I'm just going to have to wait out the weather.
I'm getting even by staying under foot and getting in her way.  :D
To be fair we have a small house and there isn't room for another work station.
Sometimes I use a shopvac, but usually I just open the doors to the alley and fire up the leaf blower.  Makes dusting a "breeze"!
You're my kind of guy! Anything else that blows away you didn't need anyway right?  Oh darn where did that 400 grit sandpaper go? LOL
General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Where do you buy your lumber?
« on: February 18, 2011, 01:17:33 am »
No matter where I end up getting my supplies I always try to buy locally first to support the local businesses, and if I can't get what I need there then I widen my search. I really try to buy AMERICAN all the time if possible, though it's getting harder to do all the time.  :'(
;)
Some old jigsaws
I can just imagine the little midget pulling on the handle of the earliest ones shown on this link.  ;D
Either that or the sawyer would have to have had 3 arms. The foot powered must have been a real leap forward in ease of use and convenience! Thankfully we have powered saws today.
Chief, let us know how it works out for you. I tried a little but would need to play with it a lot more to actually design a bowl.
Ask Steve a question. / Re: Entry level saw
« on: February 17, 2011, 11:13:46 pm »
Just to finish out this subject. I received a Delta 40-540 and am extremely satisfied with it, and am in the process of learning how to use it. I attached it to a piece of 1" plywood with indoor/outdoor carpeting sandwiched between the base of the saw and the plywood, then clamped it to my work table with a piece of wood about 1 1/4" thick to raise the back end some. It will vibrate if I push it but not really excessively if I had a more solid surface to attach it to I could probably go full speed.
Thanks for everyones input and suggestions, I'm sure other newbies will appreciate the information included here.
As do I!
Well folks my gloating days are over for a while. Winter has returned with a vengeance just over a foot of snow last night. No scrolling in the carport for a while. Told ya I'd be here pestering everyone. I hate shoveling snow!
Stay warm everyone.
Hi Steve I was just back trying to review some of your instructional videos. I found it frustrating to locate each step of 2 or more parts describing a project. Is there any way you can get them to follow each other on you tube? Sure would be easier to find and view. A table of contents would be good too if that is possible. I have no idea how those pages are set up.
Thanks,
Gabby
