Brag Forum / Re: Christmas Box (Steve's Pattern)

I agree with boxmaker, never too early to start making things for Christmas.  I always select one kind of an ornament and I make a bunch for all my friends and relatives.  People love handmade things and everyone can use ornaments.  So good job Madhatter you have reminded me to plan ahead.

I almost forgot, I always look at the Brag Forum as well.  A lot of what I cut are things I have seen on this site.

I check out the General, Toys and Coffee Shop.  My time is limited, I guess everyone's is  :D, so if I spend too much time reading I don't have much time to cut.  I sure do enjoy this site and appreciate all the posts.

The Coffee Shop / Re: Creative Woodworks magazine....

I receive both Creative Woodworks & Crafts and Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts.  I enjoy both of these mags. and recommend each.  Get yourself some way to keep your magazines protected and in some kind of order.  You will collect a lot of them in a short time and it is aggravating when you can't find a pattern or article you know you have read.  If you can afford it I would get both.

Introduce Yourself. / Re: Hello from Fredericksburg, VA

Hi Doug,

It took me awhile to say hello.  I hardly ever look at the Intoduction site.  I am from Salem, near Roanoke, in Southwest Virginia.  Welcome aboard this forum.  I have learned a lot from here and I think you will as well.  I am fairly new to scrolling, about 18 months, but I really enjoy it.  I started scrolling as a hobby that I can do when I retire.  Which I am supposed to do in Oct.  Anyway welcome again.

What a beautiful box.  It honors your mother.  She would be so proud of your work.  Thank you for sharing and I am sorry for your loss.

The Coffee Shop / This is an old one...

Back when gas stations had full service; a lady pulled into a station, went up to the attendant and said, "Excuse me, do you have a restroom?"
The attendant thought she said wisk broom and he said, "no ma'm, but if you want to back it over here I could probably blow it out with the air hose."  :o

Congratulations Michael -

What a thrill that has to be.  Good work always shows through, eventually.  I am looking forward to getting the new issue and this is just another reason to be anxious.

Sorry Kendall -

No one is speaking to you.  We are all jealous.  (only kidding)  Congratulations on being in the right place at the right time.  It is neat to have some special wood, your mind just spins on what to do.  I know you will figure it out.  A real good problem to have  :)

Graybeard -

More to your comment, there is play in the blade holder.  It does not seem to be a problem, though.  The only problem I have had is strippping out the metal over time from tightening too much.

I was a letter carrier back in the 80's, the Post Office had a contract with Ford to purchase some Pinto's.  They were the worst vehicles for carrying mail, though they were dependable.  I had heard back then that there was a danger of them blowing up if rear ended.  Every time you stopped the car you could hear the gas sloshing around in the tank.  It made me nervous to say the least.
