I'm with you GrayBeard. I have used Firefox from the beginning. IE is totally out of the question for me but I will say that IE 8 is a big improvement. Chrome is rapidly catching up with Firefox. The speed of Chrome is great. Firefox is starting to get a little bloated. I have so many firefox extensions I just cant make the switch yet.

Great cutting. The best description I ever heard about Rod Stewart was that he sounds like he gargles with razor blades. He has a cool a and unique voice.

Hi Ray, I love what you have done with the guitar patterns. They look great and the stand was a good idea also. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Hi Dustyknees, I am concerned about people posting copyrighted patterns. I am still thinking about how I can control what gets uploaded. Sometimes people don't understand what is sharable and what it not. It's a great idea just difficult to implement.

Hey Charlie, I can't read the message on the screen shot but the chat is Java. You probably need to uninstall and reinstall Java.

You can also set the directory where files download in IE and Firefox. Email me later tonight and I'll give you a hand with it.

Mike I have purchased books for the scroll saw that did not have as much good information as you put into this one post. You answered about 80% of the email I get from new scrollers. Thank you.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Is it ok with all of you?
« on: May 10, 2010, 09:31:54 pm »
Hey Charlie, that is exactly the kind of stuff I want to see here on the forum. When you show a pattern you have for sale or Mike gives help about blades I think that add a great deal to the forum. I don't particularity want to see Viagra ads on the blog but I think we are keeping those spammers out anyway. The good news is that when it comes to this forum I'm the king. I can make the rules. I feel so powerful. Just give me a minute to ask my wife it thats okay. :)

« on: May 10, 2010, 08:50:15 pm »
Sorry Randy, I did not understand your original question and I think I am still confused as to what you are trying to do. What I am reading sounds kind of backwards. You cut a project from a picture then you want to turn the cut project into a pattern? Why would you not just make the pattern first? I can't be much help here I have never worked with that kind of work flow. Anyone else have a better answer for Randy?

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Inlace or Clay?
« on: May 10, 2010, 08:41:13 pm »
The clay is cheaper and quicker. You might have to keep a close eye on the bracelet while it is in the oven. It's kind of thin and might crack or split. The clay bakes at a low temp so it might be okay.

The inlace is more expensive and takes a lot longer but I think it looks better when finished.

I like both but for a bracelet I guess I would go with the inlace for a more professional look.

Boy are you asking a big question. There have been cease and desist letters, lawsuits and the works for using copyrighted material from the web. I would like to think that simply asking permission is enough most of the time but I'm afraid that may not be enough sometimes.

I have asked permission from artists and designers many times to use parts of their work. Been turned down quite a few times and allowed quite a few times.

I used a silhouetted image of Mickey Mouse and fairly quickly received a letter asking that I not do that again. It was a nice letter but to the point. There are many large companies that apparently hire outside agencies to monitor the web for violations.

I would not want to see anyone here give legal advice. As a matter of fact many lawyers might not be competent to advise you on this subject. From what I have read it can get pretty complicated.

Hi Merlin, let me correct you. That is a much improved version of the pattern I designed. The way you mounted the pattern on and oval and stand was a big improvement. Great job.
