Bobby, the intricate detailing on the ends of the cross is really nice. It takes a steady hand to do that!

I appreciate all the wonderful comments! You guys don't realize how much your feedback means to a person. I believe that comments from those who spend time in woodworking, scroll sawing, crafts or anyone who has a desire to be creative with their hands are the most important ones. I'm not saying that a smile from the person who is receiving the project isn't meaningful, but a favorable nod from a another participant is the best...you guys are truly my inspiration to do a better job next time.

Brag Forum / Tissue Box
« on: February 06, 2011, 08:51:28 pm »
I recently asked for help and advice on how to scroll cut names in some Tissue Boxes that I was making for friends of my wife. She wanted to personalize them and I couldn't think of any better way than to insert their names, but didn't quite know how to do it. I received many helpful comments and suggestions. I realize that this isn't quite a scroll saw project, but I am just getting involved in this art and so I just wanted to display the final result. I hope that over time and as my skill level improves I can display a complete scroll saw creation. I'm certain that with all the generous people that make up this forum I can find the answers to any problems that I might encounter.

I wish to extend my thanks to everyone who responded to my question. I'm amazed by everyone's generosity. I hope that someday I too will have enough experience in this art to help someone else with their questions.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Help for Newbie

My wife has asked me to make tissue boxes for her friends at work. It will basically be a shell consisting of four sides and a top which can be dropped over the tissue box. She also asked me to personalize each box by using my scroll saw to cut their names in the front of the box. The problem is I'm having difficulty in finding a program or means to creating a pattern for their names. I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but if it wouldn't be too much trouble could someone please point me in the right direction. I truly enjoy this forum and all the contributions that everyone shares.

Al, I can understand your reluctance to entering that arena, but if there was ever anyone's talent to emulate then yours would be worthy. And I doubt that it would be redundant. I have observed others work, but the detail you capture in yours is quite unique. Thanks for your response!

I work in a machine shop so your welder portrayal hits close to home. Have you ever thought of creating an Intarsia Training Video? Seriously, your talent is rare and should be taught and preserved for generations to come. I know I would definitely be interested in a copy.
