I'm sure that seeing the type of person that you became gave her great joy and peace in her life. I think that the type of art that you create speaks about the type of person that you are. And I believe that is a testament of who your mother was. I'm sorry for your loss Al.

Thanks Russ and MrsN! I think I will try the bulbs available at Wal-Mart and see if they hold up. If I experience problems with them I will do as MrsN suggests and rig up an exterior light.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Replacement bulb for DW788 Work Light

I am in need of a replacement bulb for my Dewalt DW788 work light. Apparently, Dewalt doesn't sell replacement bulbs which is a 25Watt Type S. I was hoping someone else would have some info about a replacement that they may have used in place of this factory bulb. Any info would be appreciated. I enjoy having some light, but my wife says it isn't necessary because I am always in the dark anyway...not sure what she means by that!

This place is more than just a group of people sharing the same interest. It has become a way of life and I feel as though I am a better person just by being here.

I  wish to personally thank everyone who contributed their opinions both for and against. I have some thinking to do. And Paul of course your opinions are relevant. I am proud to say that I now know someone in Australia.

MrsN

Thank you for your response! I am currently using a Dewalt Saw which is a fine machine. However, my son has shown some interest in learning this art. So I thought that perhaps an additional saw for my shop might be in my future. I have only considered the Hegner, but as you mentioned the cost may not be justified considering I could buy two Dewalt Saws for the single price tag of the Hegner. Sometimes more expensive isn't always better. I have found that asking for opinions before purchasing is always worth it.

Newfie, you are exactly right. Reading about the machine isn't the same as actually hearing from someone who has used it. I have the utmost respect for all the experienced people on this board that is why I opened up this subject for discussion.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Hegner Scroll Saw

I apologize if this topic has previously been discussed, but I would like some information about Hegner's Scroll Saw. I am curious if anyone uses this particular saw and if so what is your opinion of it. I realize that it is quite a bit more expensive than other popular models, i.e. Dewalt. I would like to know whether the quality and ease of use is worth the extra cost.  Also, what are the good points and bad points. Any input will be appreciated. Oh! Just in case there is any doubt I would be getting the Hegner...not my son!

GrayBeard,

I want to thank you for your information regarding Hardwood sources. I too was looking for an alternate source. I called Ocooch Hardwoods yesterday looking for some Walnut and Maple. I had to leave a message. I just assumed either they were busy or they were caught up in another winter storm. I live in Indiana and we have been hit one after another with terrible weather. Anyway, I was driving home last night around 7 PM when my cell phone lit up and it was Ocooch calling me back. I couldn't believe that they would actually return my call (especially from someone who has never dealt with them before). I wasn't able to place my order because I'm not good at multi tasking while I'm driving so I told him I will call back this morning. Anyway, thank you for such a good source. I'm sure I can give them plenty of business going forward.
