Computer questions / Re: Mac computer

Chase, I don't have a Mac and don't wish to have one.   :) ;) :D ;D :D ;) :) ;D

But, to each his own and I don't want to start a war, or even a discussion on the merits of the two operating systems.  Each has its merits and to each his own.

The Coffee Shop / Men in Heaven

God knows.................

When everybody on earth was dead and waiting to enter Heaven, God appeared and said, "I want the men to make two lines: One line for the men who were true heads of their household, and the other line for the men who were dominated by their women.  And...I want all the women to report to St. Peter.

Soon, the women were gone, and there were two lines of men. The line of the men who were dominated by their wives was 100 miles long and in the line of men who truly were heads of their household, there was only one man.

God said to the long line, You men should be ashamed of yourselves; I created you to be the head of your household! You have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose! Of all of you, only one obeyed. Learn from him."

God turned to the one man, "How did you manage to be the only one in this line?"

The man replied, "My wife told me to stand here."

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Air tube for Delta scroll saw
« on: February 09, 2015, 10:22:18 pm »
Delta 40-690 parts are listed at http://www.ereplacementparts.com/delta-40690-type-scroll-saw-parts-c-3275_3505_157559.html?q=40-690.  The flexible hose is item 68 for $21.79.

Some people retire the saw air pump and instead use an aquarium air pump.  The aquarium pump pushes air at the same rate all the time, even when you turn the saw to a low speed.

Hope this helps,
Jim

Steve is amazing - full time work, making videos, maintaining the web site.  And he's still married.   :)

He does deserve our thanks as do Russ and Charles for their work in keeping web site up and running.  I know it's frustrating when you can't get on to read the latest posts.  If that happens, I try to remind myself the posts will still be there when the problem is resolved.

Thanks to Steve, Russ, and Charles.

Four guys have been going on the same golfing trip to St Andrews for many years.

Two days before the group is to leave, John's wife Paula puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going. John's mates are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do.

Two days later, the three get to St Andrews only to find John sitting at the bar with four drinks set up! "Wow John, how long you been here, and how did you talk your missus into letting you go?"

"Well, I've been here since last night.  Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room chair and Paula came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and asked, 'Guess who?" I pulled her hands off, and there she was,
wearing a nightie.

She took my hand and pulled me into our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over. Well she's been reading '50 Shades of Grey'...  On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes! She told me to tie her up and cuff her to the bed, so I did. And then she said, "Do whatever you want."

So...  Here I am!

The Coffee Shop / Fishing
« on: February 01, 2015, 04:59:15 pm »
It was raining buckets and a large puddle had formed in front of a pub in Glasgow. An old man, in a ragged kilt  was there, in the rain, with a rod and a line floating in the puddle.

Touched by the sadness of the scene, a passerby approached and asked what he was doing:

"I'm fishing." replied the old-timer.

"Poor old guy" thought the stranger who decided to invite him inside to dry out in the warmth of the pub with a scotch.

As they were quietly drinking their scotches, the stranger decided to play along with the old-timer and asked: "How many have you caught this morning?"

"You are the eighth." replied the old-timer with a shy grin.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Toy plans at Lee Valley
« on: January 28, 2015, 12:38:02 pm »
Lee Valley is offering a book of plans for toys http://www.leevalley.com/en/gifts/page.aspx?p=72644&cat=54&ap=1 that looks interesting.  The title is Zany Wooden Toys that Whiz, Spin, Pop and Fly.  These could be good for children/grand children and could also sell at fairs.  (I don't know if the designs are copyrighted.)

This site http://servicenet.dewalt.com/Products/Detail?isId=true&productNumber=DW788&selectedType=21612 has the parts diagram for the type 1 and type 2 saws.  Looking at them, the bellows areas appear to be identical.

From your explanation it's hard to tell which part will not come off but perhaps the parts diagram will help.  The cap (#30) should come off with a little wiggling.  The bellows might (someone else might know for sure and will comment) be "attached" to the projection on the back bottom of the rocker assembly (#10).  If I'm correct, a gentle tug should remove the bellows.

Good luck and let us know how you get on,
Jim
PS, you can save the diagrams for future reference.

Jpegger from Vallen http://www.vallen.de/products/software/jpegger is free and can resize pics. It allows you only to select certain sizes, at least one of of the sizes would be OK for posting here.  I mainly use it as a picture viewer, it's fast and easy to use.  As I say, it also re-sizes.

Good luck,
Jim

Matthew, you are doing great work with your Craftsman. It proves what julief said, http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?topic=18087.0 that great work can come from the crappiest saw.  It will in interesting to see what you do with your new saw.

Good work.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: DW788 type 2 blade tensioning
« on: December 24, 2014, 10:20:39 am »
Terry, glad you found a simple solution.  I also have an Easy-Lift.  When I install the blade, I fist put the balde in the upper holder, then push the upper arm down to the bottom of it's stroke, then reach under and push up on the lower arm while I tighten the thumbscrew under the table.  Works for me.
