Good for you Jerry. I threw my back out just watching it.  :D

I'm looking forward to see another masterpiece. When you said John Wayne I thought, "Not another one of John", but when I saw the pattern...WOW!

Hang in there old boy. Take a few days off and play it up so family and friends will wait on you. Is Warfarin another brand of Scotch Whiskey?

You can use either ply or solid, but if you get plywood, get the good stuff. There are many sites online that offer great plywood for scrolling. Sloan's is one of them. If you want to stick to 1/4" or less, plywood is my suggestion. If you are doing something special in solid wood, go with something between 1/2" and 3/4".

That would be awesome as either fretwork or intarsia. Nice job.

Thanks Gabby. That's one reason I'm not on Facebook. On the other side of the coin, I saw an article about a lady that had her purse stolen. In the purse was her phone. The thief took pictures from a cruise ship and they were automatically uploaded to a photosharing site. The geo information helped track the phone and the thief.

I had the same problem a few years ago. My fix...the washer. I guess if I would have read the instructions I would have figured it out. Doh!

Test drive the Hawk. If you like it then get it. The price is right. You can always use old yellow as a backup.

Hi Larry. It sounds like you are making a bowl. As for the plywood, yes it will work. In fact, it will probably look pretty good. Whenever in doubt, just do it. You learn a lot that way whether it works or not.

Happy scrolling.

Amen! I read an email from a congressman who thinks that minimum wage should be raised because our hard-working Americans deserve it. Well, our hard-working Americans are already making more than the amount he wants to increase it to. To me it's more important to put American's back to work and increasing minimum wage is the wrong direction to go.

I have heard the same thing dirtrider73068 said about the Mexicans. I heard this from a doctor and a land developer. They both said the Mexicans work harder for minimum wage than most others and they never complain about the work they have to do.

I showed that one to my wife. She said, "It's a good thing I don't have a sister." I said, "It's a good thing you're not my girlfriend."

Does anyone have a place for me to stay for a few days? :D :D

I agree with Roger, instead of flattening the ring make a curve in the handle. You can wrap sandpaper around the mug and use that to sand the perfect curve for the handle to fit the mug. If you make a lot of these mugs, you can speed things up by making a jig out of a ring, add sandpaper and attach to the drill press with an arbor.
