Sorry to hear about your saw, I have a German Scheppach otherwise known as a Deco405, Table swings L/R 45degrees, on a very accurate scale, 16" throat Variable speed from 500-1500rpm. light and puffer. I broke the bottom clamp (my fault), rang them up, they explained that they didn't have any in stock at the moment but would put me on a list. the next day, postman dropped one through the letter box with a note saying they had vandalise a new machine for me. All free of charge. the machine price is sort of middle book. ?240 English and that included our rip of VAT Tax and delivery.
Food for thought Have a look

Seems to me Gabby that with all the problems you have it may be a good idea to sell the saw, buy a Sewing Machine and start Quilting Lol Iggy.

Thank you all for your kind sentiments, the pain is easing a little now. She seems to have a problem with the simple things in life eg. Husband, screw on milk bottle tops, Bra straps, washing up, scrubbing the floor, cutting the grass, carrying the food shopping bags etc. How the hell she is going to cope with my sister, her daughter and her daughter in a couple of weeks time from Oz, I have no idea. As for me well I am going to move into my Garage workshop for a month, just can't get the staff these days can you. LOL  Iggy. PS. only joking but thanks again.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Table Extension
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:18:25 am »
Hi Gabby.
I had a problem cutting small pieces because of the size of the inset plate hole so I just put some polished 3/4" MDF on the table with a 1/4" hole in it for the blade and countersunk 4No 1/4" coach bolts through the MDF and table top more or less on each corner with a washer and wingnut underneath. the holes in the bed have no effect on it what so ever and the MDF bed seems to help dampen down the vibration of the saw at high speeds.

LOL Iggy

Here in the UK, Being thick is applied to someone who is easily confused and a thicknesser is a teacher who adds to that confusion. Someone who is a few cents short of a dollar. I am sure it doesn't apply to you though Gabby

Hi Guys & Gals & Gabby.
When making one off toys requiring many small one off components of say 3" in length I seem to waste inordinate amounts of wood trying to get the right dimentions as my thicknesser will only take about 2' minimum length without putting life and limb in peril. I am sure you all have your methods and I would be interested to find out how?

Lol Iggy.

Thanks for the tips Rog, I am wondering about cutting the frame out of timber, but cogs from ply, I am aware of the stability of ply for the cogs but wonder about the wisdom of building the frame from some exotic timber. It may be prudent to roughly cut the frame and leave it for a couple of years in the envioment of its final resting place before putting it togeather. Or sod it, do it all in ply and rely on the Air Brush to age it!!!
I think you are spot on about getting the bits, we have gone all metric over here in England and I recently had a problem getting hold of some imperial threaded rod for Matthias Wandel's Screw Advance Finger Joint Jig. (that man has a fantastic brain.)
                Thanks again Iggy

I have bought the plans for Clayton Boyers Bird of Paradise Clock, anyone ever built one of these things, I am not very fond of it, aesthetically, but it seems a worthy challenge and any advice woud be welcome. Looking through the U Tube Vidio, makes me think I need to buy a CNC router to cut the cogs.     LOL Iggy. P S I am still new here, and you guys have been GGGGRRRREEEEAAAATTTT. Thanks. ;D

Gabby.
We are getting so far off track now, I recon you will have to send me your e mail, mine is in the profile. Had a senior moment today, loaded up the car with all the rubbish to take it  to the dump and before I went, it looked like rain so went to fetch my hand saw from the garden but it had vanished, I looked everywhere for it, Gone. Went back in the house to tell her in draws that I was going and there was my saw in its sheath on the kitchen table. God I hate getting old.
Lol. Iggy.
