Check out Sue Mey's site, www.scrollsawartist.com she has a large selection of plaques and crosses of firemen, law enforcement and any other occupation you would want. You may see something there.

This is a great piece, it will mean a lot to her, Sue has many great crosses, I have ordered several custom patterns from her but have never thought to have her personalize the items. Great idea, good work!! ;D

That is a wonderful piece, can you add my name to the list for a copy of the pattern? I like the way it all comes together.  Thanks

Hi folks, I just have to share this. This is my grandaughter. It is a piece that I started to design several months ago using GIMP. Between the jiggs and reels and with the help of Frieke, she designed the  final pattern I cut, we came up with a pattern.  Thanks Frieke. I gave copies to her mother and grandmother as mother day gifts. Needless to say they were speechless.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Ryobi Scroll Saw
« on: April 30, 2010, 06:35:42 am »
On the Ryobi I have there are turn screws with plastic caps on them to tighten and loosen the blades. One day the lower plastic cap came off and underneath, the screw is fitted to receive a # 3 allan key. I always found the plastic cap difficult to tighten so now I just use a long shaffed allen key  to set the blades in the saw.

Hi folks, I also have a Ryobi (sw180). It is about 2 yrs old and has given me good service until lately. Just last week one of the screws that holds the housing together fell out. The others were fine a few needed to be tightened. The screw that fell out cannot be re-screwed into it's place, I cannot figure it out. To take the thing apart means that I will have to fool with the bearings, and I don't want to do that. Any suggestions.

What a wonderful piece of work Gary. Must have taken quite a few hours to complete. I got to do me a clock when I get good with the saw.

I had a problem with the chains, I searched every where locally. I even to the lottery booths to scrounge these scratch thingies they give away. On the internet I found a site that sold them for $40.00 for 100. I found more on ebay. A friend ordered them for my using his paypal acct and I paid him back when they came. The price was about $25.00 CDN for 200. Just search  "3 inch ball chain". Happy scrolling everyone.

Hi scrollers, I have used Steve's pattern maker for the key chains as well. I like to use peoples initials. People like it because it is more personal than the name. I usually make the piece and casually give it to them. I get a kick out of their reaction. I usually cut from scrap exotic wood like purple heart, teek or jatoba. I like it because there are usually only 2 or 3 letters to cut. I just completed an order for 36 fobs for a local cadet group with the corp call numbers on it. I use 1 inch material and slice it on my band saw after I cut the pieces. That way I got three fobs from the stock.
Remember let the saw do the work, your in it for the pleasure!!
