that's excellent work especially as it's your first piece and done with spirals, I only ever use spirals when there is no other alternative as I can't get on with them. You seem to have mastered them on your first attempt.

That would be Boiled Linseed Oil and Celulose thinners mixed 50/50 (I believe you Americans use mineral spirits instead of celulose thinners)

Thats the way I do it (not that I use spirals a lot as I don't get on with them too good) I also use a tooth brush to scrub them off once scorched they sometimes come off easier with a tooth brush than with a needle file.
