You are lucky to have one, I ordered a 21" from Axminster in Dec and am told I will not get it for a few weeks yet.

Built a 12' boat years ago in Teak. I found it to be abrasive more than hard, oily as well. The sawdust is like fine breadcrumbs and tends to clog up blades pretty quick, it is also abrasive and can dull blades as quick as grinding paste.I have never tried it on the S/S but think it may work well. If it has blackish streaks throuh it, it is generally from Africa and looks fantastic when done, the Malasian Teak is usually pretty plain. Because of the oil, it will clog sandpaper with a few rubs so use some spirit to get rid of the surface oil before rubbing and again before painting. Hope this helps a little. Iggy

Welcome Amanda. Can't make up my mind about your boyfriends motives, he may be cleaver in that he will not have to spend any more money on taking you out any more, as you will, as we all do, only want to make sawdust. Or is he being silly as he will be missing out on your company?? Just kidding, but remember there is a lot of frustration in learning. There are times when you just want to throw the saw out of the nearest window, at that point just walk away and try again in a couple of hours and many of the frustrations will have gone or as has been said there are many World Class Scrollers on this site and every one of them very helpfulllllll. Hope all you great people have a bril Chrissy, and Gabby, I have not been very active on site of late but next year will see a great change as I have bought an Excalibur ex 21 - not arrived yet- and will have to justify the cost. Anyone want a Deco 405 Vario heavily disguised as a Scheppach.
