UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST....
After printing out the other pattern, I just wasn't happy with the font, So I made a new base for Grampa's F-16, I think this one is cleaner then the previous one. For those that are interested, here is the updated pattern.

PS...Structurally, it would be better to make sure that the long grain of the wood is vertical, this will give the base and letters more strength and lessen the likely hood of breakage, especially if you use wood thinner than 3/4".

Update: Finished product, if you plan on making this pattern, be aware that the letters are a bit fragile. Sand with care, I broke the big "F" off while sanding which created a verbal "F"!!

Gramp's made a great pattern of the F16's, Im going to be a vendor at this years airshow in Lakeland Fl, at the end of March, And the Thunderbirds will be performing. I thought these would make great portraits and desk top items, without copyright issues. I reconfigured Pauls pattern a bit and thought some of you might want to make it too.

I'm going to cut it out of 3/4" Mahogany, and place it on either a square or oval base. When its complete I'll post a pic.

Hey Pete,

They really came out great! Don't beat yourself up over a mistake, I looked for it, I don't see it! That's the cool thing about this scroll saw stuff, most of the time nobody knows when you make a mistake, unless you show the pattern right next to it, which would be, well, kinda odd.

You did a great job of covering the mistake, whatever it was, don't worry about making more.

The pattern is a guide, not an absolute, once you realize that, scroll sawing gets much easier.

Congrats Karl, Now you've got it in your blood, there's no stopping you now! Making money is fun, isn't it. It's even a better feeling when people want to buy the stuff you make, one day maybe I'll know what that feels like  ;) ;)
