Introduce Yourself. / Re: A real newbie!

:D Hello I am Judy, a crabby old woman from North Dakota and getting crabbier as the below zero temps continue.  But I am old and have plenty of fat to see me through this hibernation period.  Have fun with the saw. ;D

General Scroll Saw Talk / dremel drillpress??
« on: November 14, 2017, 04:33:33 pm »
I had a drill press thing for the dremel for when the holes need to be drilled in the center or someplace the throat of the table drill press isn't deep enough. I lost it or it walked away.  Anyone know what I am talking about and where I can get another one?

;D Any specific questions someone here can help.
Message me if you want step by step how I do it.
Everyone here has their own way of doing things and I am sure many here will give you their way.
Then just pick and choose and do it "your way".  ;)

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Problem with Peel and Stick
« on: September 16, 2017, 12:07:40 pm »
Instead of the peel and stick, I have been using Wal Mart's Con-Tac brand with no problems.
I lay the blank on the back side of the contact paper and cut around it with an exacto knife.
I always wipe the wood with a tac cloth before applying the contact paper. Then I spray the back of my pattern with Elmers spray adhesive.  Never had a problem.  Hope this helps.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Brown Paper Bag (Lunch Bag)
« on: September 01, 2017, 12:29:50 pm »
Yes I use it most all of the time.  It is much more appealing when a customer touches or picks up a piece.
I would suggest compare two items with and without the paper bag method. I don't know why or how it works but it works and only takes a few seconds to wipe each piece.

Introduce Yourself. / Re: Staining Baltic Birch
« on: August 26, 2017, 12:05:48 pm »
I use Baltic Birch for a lot of things. I use MinWax penetrating stain and it works great.  Brush it on or dip it. wipe thoroughly with paper shop towels. Then I use air compressor to blow the stain out of small holes.  I let it dry overnight then spray with Krylon clear.  Let dry overnight and then wipe gently with brown paper bag cut into squares.  Good Luck :)
