Hey all,

I just wanted to show you all what I have been working on lately.  I have finally started making some new patterns and projects, and also started working on a new site to sell my finished items at and some of my patterns.  The link to the site is www.leldonsscrollsawing.com.  Here's the ornaments I designed and cut!  I used 1/8" batlic birch on these! I look forward to seeing how people at the craft show I will be going to like them, along with yall!

Thanks,

Leldon Maxcy

Hey Mike!  Everything is great! Staying busy with work and here at home cutting out things!  I have a store that I sell my items at now!  You should be hearing from me soon. I want to try some of the ultra reverse blades!

Hi termite,

I have made a few things out of corian! It cuts great. Just be sure to use a blade with out reverse teeth and maybe a bit bigger than you usually would on the design you choose. Also, be sure to apply tape, be it blue painters tape or packaging tape. Sand it with progressively finer grits. Up to about 400-600 grit. Or higher. The more you sand or polish it, the better it'll look!

Maybe the blades aren't in upside down, but a reverse tooth blade was used and the reverse teeth came up to far?  It has happened to me! Not on a jigsaw puzzle, but on a regular fretwork pattern.

Everyone has given you good tips!  I use a piece of 400 grit sand paper on the blade ends.  And every so often, I use 220 on the thumb screws.  Wow, I didn't realize that I had been scrolling 15 YEARS! I feel old now, thanks Sheila!

There are also some of these I a issue of creative woodworks and crafts. I think it was last years holiday issue. It's by Diana Thompson. I have been thinking of making some of these for a booth I have in a store!

I haven't done it, but I have seen people sand the plexiglass with fine grit sandpaper to give it a frosted look. I think that would be able to defuse the light enough.  Also, I'm not at all sure if this would work, but hobby lobby sells thin, maybe 1/16" or 1/32" clear acrylic that might be able to sand and give the frosted look and is cheaper and much thinner than the plexiglass. Just an idea!

John Nelson authored that book, right?  If it is, I he used TK alot for the thickness of wood.  I have a feeling it is talking about adding a backer to the project.  When I first started scrolling I almost always used felt glued to a piece of plywood and then the project glued onto that.  It was a nice way to set the piece off, and not have it in a frame.  But the downside is that the dust REALLY REALLY likes the felt.  If you are going to use the mirror backing, or any backing that you want to fit perfectly behind the train cut out, before cutting the outside cut attach the backer of choice and then cut it out together.  This will make it look really good.  To attach the mirror I have used Aleene's tacky glue and it is holding really good.  Nothing has fell off yet!
