Hey Everyone....  Long story Short.  Bout two years ago my youngest Daughter talked me into setting up a booth at her sons school.  I had NEVER ever thot about selling my crafts.  They went to family and friends for special occasions etc.  I WAS HAPPY DOING THIS.  Anyway my Daughters Craft Show was a Huge success.  Made lil over $400.00 profit.  YeePeeYea!
Then I got the bug.  Second show was at a kind of FLEA MARKET.  Bad decisiton.  Lost!  Then a old time HUGE flea market here.  Two days and Bad!
Then the next year came with the same school.  Two days and Bad!  And finally I wanted to try a NEW one (First Time thing) The wife n I drove to the location and Wow! It was 10 miles off the main road and in the middlle of a huge cow pasture!  We didn't do it, but did pay the fee and Yepper!  Lost it.
Got a email from them saying they were sorry that so many vendors decided to close up early on Saturday.  Made me feel good.  Yeepeeyea!  Now come November we gonna do my daughters craft show again (Third time)  If this is not GOOD.  i SHALL QUIT TRYING TO SELL MY CRAFTS.  Now I would look forward to all of you-alls posting your feelings.  Thanks....Danny  :+}

Just had to reply.  Steve put out one of his 60 secs. tips a long time ago about turning corners and keeping a sharp look.  I have been using this way ever since.  I normally keep my Hegner lil over half speed.  Never use a blade bigger that a UR5.  When you come to the corner just lightly pull the wood towards the corner and make the turn.  Speed is not a factor in doing this.  Works for me everytime.  Later....  Danny  :+}

Thanks to the Wonderful Forum that Steve Good put together long ago I have met many, but especially my very good friend form Holland Marcel and I have been sharing history with each other along with also sharing Scrolling tips.  The reason I finished my indian first is because I am HAPPILY RETIRED and Marcel is still in the working force.
     Thank all for your posts.  Made my day....  Danny  :+}

This Indian was designed by our very own Russ back a couple years ago.  I had a lot of fun cutting it.  Started using the UR#5 blade and then the ur#3, but wasn't happy with the tight turns needed, so tried a UR#1 and Bingo.  It cut so, so smooth and almost 100% accurate.  Oh yea I stacked two using good ole Lowes quarter inch Red Oak.  Its really only 3/16" thick.  Anyway the bottom piece came out with very, very little fuzzies.  I was impressed, so I finished it as if it were the top.  You be the judge.  I would love any and all Pros and Cons.  Thanks ....  Danny  :+}

Hey Julie....I have all the different colors of Danish Oils and they are all in the brown catagory.  I just think being able to stain/oil a project with some other color would make it Pop so to speak.  Anyway its in the Deciding and ordering stage at present, but it does excite me a lil.  Will let yas know.

One product I did buy and try bout a year or so ago is a powder dye that is mixed with plain ole water.  Thot I had a good thing at first, but just did not make the wood look good.  In fact spray varnish just did not change the dyed wood very much.  My big failure.  Anyway I am always open to new things.
     I am hoping other members chime in on this topic.  Pros and Cons. Danny :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Modifying Oil Products????
« on: May 10, 2011, 12:06:44 pm »
I have always used oil Stain for my projects until recently when I learned about lemon oil, boiled limeseed oil and other oils.  The oils really do a better job of covering the end grain which was my hang up with stains.  Lately I have been using the oils, but like the lemon and limeseed oils just don't have much color.  My question is....Is there any product that can be mixed with the oils to change the color to different shades?
                  I thank yas for any info.  Later....  Danny  :+}
