General Scroll Saw Talk / Washed effect with acrylics....
« on: June 19, 2010, 06:19:57 pm »
I have a couple of puzzles done that I want to paint with acrylics.

However, I want to do a wash effect.

How thin do I dilute the acrylic paints with water?
Do you wipe it on with a paper towel or rag?
What kind of container do you use for thinning?

I'll be using several different colors on one project so I need something economical for mixing.

Can you save the left overs?

Thanks for any advice.

MDF has so much more glue in it that you will find most of the time you will get half the blade life.

Is there a way to figure out how large a particular pattern will be before you print it out.

Perhaps A table that says 105 will create 1 1/4 inches tall X 1 1/4 inch wide letters & a setting of 140 will create letters  2" x 1 1/2" etc.

Would still like a response to this question please.

Oh I know you are not condoning it.  I understand that mods cannot control what goes on outside the forum.  How ever My opinion is it is wrong to share in any fashion or form if the person is not the creator of the design.

I was a member of the Cafe' for several years when it was on msn.  After they moved I had some health issues and did not frequent the net very much.  I got the boot for inactivity.  So I can no longer access their site either..

Between two people in emails, etc....that's up to you and that other person.

I do not agree with this statement one Iota.  Even sharing behind closed doors is not okay.  If you are not the designer of a pattern it is not okay to share, give, sell someone elses design even if you go it for free.  In e-mails or on a street corner.  it is not yours.

How do you get the pattern maker to create/save more than 1 name on a page?  It is such a waste of paper to print out each pattern separately.

I know, several questions but you are the guy that has all the answers...<wink>

Thanks for any help.
