It's an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and I run the pest control contract for MacDill AFB in Tampa.  We get one from time to time and I relocate them to unoccupied areas.  No, I don't wrangle sharks, but I used to do a fair amount of spearfishing and that was my tag on a couple of forums.  Guess it just stuck.

Janet, sorry if I gave you a bad dream!

I can relate.  My last name is Murphy, so Murphy's law goes double for me.  Those table saws can get you if you aren't really carefull!  That's why my motto is "Measure twice, cut once, count fingers."

Somedays it is really best to just stay inside and cocoon for awhile.  It will get better!

Looking good!  I have a vision disorder.  All the numbers on a clock look like 5's to me!

I agree!  That is cool.  Please don't show it to my wife or I'll be making one.

Brag Forum / Noah's Ark Mirror set
« on: July 07, 2010, 11:37:38 pm »
This is a mirror and brush set I made for my wife, Carol.  The Noah's ark pattern came from one of Sue Mey's projects, which I had to edit with some cutting and pasting to make appropriate for the size and space available.  I made a template and used a router to make the recess for the mirror and then cut a maple oval which I resawed to use as a contrasting backing to the scrollsaw work.  I used the same method to cut a recess for the head of a brush to set into the accompanying piece.  I bought a commercially available brush and cut off the handle, then sanded the back flat and mounted it into the wooded brush.  Both pieces are made of Jatoba wood which I found to be very dense and oily.

Mytoya,

On the home page of Steve's blogspot, look down the left hand column.  Next to the last icon.  It's titled "Reader Photos".  Some of yours should be there to!  You do nice work.

Right off the bat I notice one big difference between your shop & mine.  I can see there is a floor on your shop.  I'm not sure if mine has a floor. ::)

Oh come on now!  You don't really want to be known as a "quitter" do you?  Keep it up until you get it right!

I used to hang out in a forum for Honda VTX motorcycles which was huge and as helpfull as you can imagine!  Then a young man in a car made a left turn into me and my motorcycle.  Totalled the bike, shattered my kneecap, broke a few other things, and ended my motorcycle riding activities.  That's one reason it is so good to find this group!

Another positive note about Ott lights.  They are made in Tampa, Fl.
