You never know though.  If he had taken the other road, he might have wound up the "wife".

Good Job Jimbo!  I've used the spirals, but prefer to only use them when really needed.  The ones I used left a rough surface unlike the reverse tooth blades I usually use, and the kerf is much wider as well.  They also seem to break a lot more often, but maybe that's just me.

I am always happy to take what is offered (from the originator) free, but I sure don't mind paying the small price most scroll saw design artists ask for their work either.

I just guessing Janet, but it might be from the fact that most saws don't cut absolutely straight up & down.  there is a slight arc which means the top moves slightly forward on the down stroke when you are pushing toward the blade.  Conversly when pushing in from behind the center of the blade contacts the wood first.  At least it seems to make some sense. ::)

Reminds me of the story of the 2 good ol boys out for a drive.  They passed a gas station with a sign that advertised a contest with a prize of free sex.  One said "That's a lie!  I bought gas there last week and didn't win nothing."  The other replied, "Nope, it's true!  My wife won twice just last week herself!".

I'm not retired, but I've often said I have a mind like a steel trap (only it's rusted shut).

It depends.  How exact do they have to be?  What kind of material?  Do you have another method available like a bandsaw, stationary disk sander, or router table?

With most materials you can freehand cut a fairly accurate circle on the scrollsaw with the right blade.  I'm not sure how well a jig anchored to the table of the scrollsaw would work, but a circle jig  anchored to a band saw works great.  If you have a stationary disk sander or a router table you could freehand cut close to the drawn circle and then use the other tool to achieve a true and reproduce-able circle.

Good luck!  I hope this was beneficial.
