General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: 1/2" wood for ornaments?
« on: June 20, 2014, 08:35:27 pm »
You can use any thickness you prefer. Thicker ornaments generally means heavier ornaments. There are many online stores that sell thin hardwoods and plywood at reasonable prices. With thin stock you can stack cut which gives you more for the time behind the saw.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: How to set to start scrolling

You have some goodquestions. First, don't worry about tilting the saw. You can do just fine without a tilt. There are lots of Youtube videos on scrolling as well as many from Steve Good. Watch some videos and it will get you started. There are also many patterns in the pattern library on this site. Look for a few easy ones and give it a go. We all went through growing pains. We are more than just knowledge and experience,  we are also here to keep you motivated and get you over any hurdles. The number one rule of scrolling...have fun.

Excellent work! Hopefully your sister can work things out or find a better place where she can keep the dog.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Gluing fret work to backer
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:58:15 pm »
Richard, use clear drying glue, spread it thin, and let it get tacky then put on the backer. You don't need to use too much clamping pressure as most fret work is not that heavy.

I have no experience with that resaw fence, but I know Kreg makes some great tools at reasonably prices. One thing to remember is that those edges are real knuckle-busters. I put tape on some edges and filed others.
