FD-UR #1 will cut 3/4" pine very well.  Intricate cuts it will work the best.  ur#3 &5 will work great.  Danny  :+}

I AGREE WITH USING THE BROWN PAPER BAG FOR SANDING BETWEEN APPLYING A SPRAY VARNISH OR LACQUER.
I PREFER THE MINWAX LACQUER.

MIXING THE DANISH OIL WITH MINERAL SPIRITS WILL TAKE AWAY SOME OF THE STRAIGHT OIL COLOR.
DRYING TIME TO ME IS FAIRLY FAST.  DRY TO TOUCH WITHIN 30 MINUTES.  I ALWAYS DRY EACH FOR A DAY.

THIS MIXING DANISH OIL WITH SPIRITS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT THIS METHOD.  STRAIGHT DANISH OIL
WOULD BE PREFERRED.  EITHER WAY THE GRAIN POPS REAL BEAUTIFUL.

ROGER....  I DID GIVE YOUR MIX A TRY WAY BACK YONDER.  SEEMS I REMEMBER AFTER MIXING A PINT CONTAINER
IT GOT A LIL FILM ON THE TOP AFTER A WHILE.  MAYBE I TRY AGAIN AND ....ONLY MIX AS MUCH AS I MIGHT NEED.

THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR INPUT.  LOVE OUR SCROLL SAW FAMILY.............. Danny  :+}

This is about finishes....  I have been mixing 50/50 Boiled Linseed Oil and Mineral Spirits for YEARS

and I really cannot say I know the reason EXCEPT for being CHEAPER in the long run.  And maybe
speeding up the Drying time?  Not sure why?  Think I learned this method from our Dgman (Dan)
a Zillion years back.  LOL

I just finished giving a TEST.  Might of been around forever, but not for me.  I have always used

DANISH OIL'S....Straight.... Well I gave the MIXTURE method a try and I SURE AM PLEASED.

Guestimation of 60% danish oil with the 40% Spirits,

                              ANYWAY JUST A COUPLE OF my 13 cents worth..........Danny  :+}

My Friend after reading all of OUR FAMILIES ADVICE about this subject I have learned a thing or two.
Deal with the Dust Issue more seriously.  My method I feel is satisfactory, but using the mask more
is important also.  Enjoy each day the Good Lord allows one to get up from a Good nights sleep and
think Positive about All.  I feel like the people in these posts that say Keep On Trucking so to speak.
You will be in My Everyday Prayers.                     God Bless.............Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Flying Dutchman blades

Well I have used about all brands of scroll saw blades over the years.  When I gave Mike's F.D. a try I HAVE NEVER
USED ANOTHER BRAND.  Personally I am hooked on the FDUR #1....  Most of my Scrolling is done using BB sizes
and pine and popular.  Up to 3/4" the #1 blade cuts almost PERFECTLY WITH FOLLOWING THE LINE.  Super CLEAN
on the back.  Hardly NO SANDING NEEDED.  Just CANNOT be comfortable cutting with any other size blade.  My 2 cents.

« on: June 14, 2015, 02:14:28 pm »
It has been AGES since I last glacially asked for a Pattern Help.  Had to read Russ's new rules on this.  Hope it works.
     This person that asked me to Scroll a pattern is a Minister and Good Friend.  The picture is of his Father.  Passed
nine years ago.  He was also the Pastor of the same Church.  He has plans on mounting the Finished Portrait in a
special place in his Church.   My friend was Inspired when I showed him the portrait I Scrolled of my Mother who passed 2 years ago.

I HOPE there is a Designer that would Design me a Pattern.

SEND ME A PM   or  email me at    danny62melton@Yahoo.com        AND I WILL EMAIL YOU THE PICTURE HE PROVIDED ME.

And I Give My Thank Yous in Advance........... Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: smallest scroll saw blade
« on: June 11, 2015, 04:42:27 pm »
Never seen that as a Subject matter before.  Very interesting question.  Not sure if many people still use the PINNED blades.
As I remember when beginning and only BEING able to buy the PINNED BLADES (Lowes or H.D.) The smallest was I would say
FD #5 or bigger.  Anyway you will get your answer here.  There are many more people with Lots of Knowledge about MOST ANYTHING....  Danny  :+}

Now that is a TOP KOCH job there.  Made the Memories flow back to playing in Dart Tournaments.  Had a dart
board hanging in the house for decades.  Now you have impressed me to build something like yours and get
back into playing.  Thanks for showing this.  I look forward to seeing other crafts.  Danny  :+}
