You can lay it cup (convex) side up on some concrete out of the sun like the garage floor with some weight on top, this may have enough moisture or on your lawn in the shade.  You can also use a moist towel over the top with weight on it.

For all my compound cuts and I do a ton of them I use a Flying Dutchman polar #5.  Keep your tension tight, allow the saw to do the cutting so slow down your feed rate.  Practice practice practice.
