Where are you going to put the clock motor? behind the wall, if so you would need a shaft at least 30 mm long and they don't make them [to my knowledge] length of hands don't matter
Sounds like an interesting project, post a pic when it is finished

Had a fantastic day at the Manawatu club last sat. it was awork shop orgonised by the the club, it is 145km from wellington and I took a mate who is also interested in the saw, we had 2 projects to complete, 1 a tile and the other a christmas deco. the theme was on stack cutting and methods of binding the blanks for cutting
I also met 3 other members of this forum, Blackie from Hawkes Bay, Merlin from Foxton and Ryse from Auckland, we all had a great time and it was sad to say farewell at the end of the day, BUT there is next year if invited
Thanks Steve Good for getting us together
