Nice box joints Louis!  It is a scroll saw project, because at least part of it was done with the scroll saw.  It doesn't have to be entirely made on the scroll saw.  Besides I have personally posted things I've made here that never touched a scroll saw.  Most of us are interested in other facets of woodworking as well, this place just caters to scroll saw work.  Glad you showed us!

Computer questions / Re: OMG!!!!

On the old sailing ships virtually every inch on space was a work space.  When in port, wives and girlfriends were allowed on board but had to remain out of the way of ongoing work.  On occasion a woman would go into labor and with the lack of any infirmary, the safest place to deliver was in the space between two cannon.  Any baby born there was henceforth referred to as a "son of a gun".

In a Coast Guard Auxiliary boating course I took they spent an entire evening on phrases that have evolved from old nautical sayings.  It was very interesting.

Another easy approach would be to use Steve's Keychain Pattern Maker (available on his main webpage) and just resize it to the appropriate size for your project.

Hey Russ,  don't you feel really sorry for all these guys?  I had the window open and fan on in the shop tonight.

Ok Gabby.  Seems you know your nautical lore, so do you know the origin of the phrase "son of a gun"?

The only illness I have picked up here is an unhealthy desire for more tools and wood. Does that count?  My wife thinks it is an obsession.

I have both Dawie.  I am very poor at designing and drawing, and his pattern wizard helps.

I just love doing these quickie cutouts.  They are nothing special, but people really seem to like them.

Great idea!  Don't make them too inexpensive or you may regret it later.

I prefer rapid resizer from Patrick Roberts.  It isn't free, however I googled it and found it on sale at a couple of vendors so I emailed him directly and told him i would prefer to buy it from him and he gave me a refund to make the price match.  You can download a free trial version from the website http://rapidresizer.com

I only took 1 shop class in high school.  Turned out we had a difference in philosophy.  They wanted everything done manually (especially sanding), while I feel anything worth doing will involve a motor somehow. ::)

Don't get us started MrsN!  Most of us guys have retained that inner 8th grade mentality for decades!

David, I have done the stacked cats to, and people seem to love the mouse on the top best of all!  I agree they are a lot of fun.

Never heard of it until this message.  I don't have a dust collector in my shop, never wear masks, and I rarely use the shop vac.  To clean I fire up my leaf blower and open the alley doors!  The sawdust never bothers me, but recently I ran some monkeypod wood through my planer and about choked!  It irritated my nose, throat, and eyes and then did it again when I rinsed off my face.  I will wear something when I work that stuff!
