General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Excaliber 21 or 30?
« on: February 04, 2012, 12:09:27 pm »
If you are worried about the capasity of the 21 then it is too small for you, and you must be cutting big things with it. The 30 is equel in performance to the 21 and all control is from the front once you have set the tension at the back. be aware that they are built like tanks and are very heavy so need to be static. If you watch Steves vid on the 21, then you have it, as the 30 is just a taller brother Iggy.

Welcome to the Forum, fron Iggy Giles in S Wales. There is plenty of world class talent here for you to draw on and they are all masters of the craft. But first we here in Wales have to show you how to play Rugby tomorrow.
Iggy.

Hi Neil I am Ian (Iggy) from south wales. Like you, I am a sort of newby here, and have learned all I know about Scrolling from this world class bunch. Unfortunately, they have not taught me all that they know yet so I intend hanging around for a while yet. Iggy

I, like all of us, have spent all my life chasing the mighty buck, now I just make things that I want to make, when I want to make them. No chasing deadlines or doing repeat after repeat, It is so fulfilling, being able to go in there when I want and stay there for as long as I want. The one rule I do keep is to clean up, pack up and put the car in there when I have finished. The car is put in last and acts as security for the machines. Also the garage is only 22' x 12' so I need to keep organised or run out of space. Lol Iggy.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Scheppach Decoflex
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:07:34 am »
I have a Scheppach Deco 405, the big sister to the one you are looking at. It does not have the extra drive though. It does have an accurate L/R 45degree swing it can take Pin ends and is very robust. They are made in the far East. I think I am right in saying that Scheppach bought the Deco brand and started painting them Yellow. On mine, the speed control and On/Off switch are very handy at the front but Tension is at the back, not a good idea, changing blades is a pain as there is not much room under the table, you need an extended hex key to do it. Also the light breaks often as it vibrates the filament to bits at the higher speeds. The one I have has served me well but is sat under the bench now doing nothing. It is only a year old but would be no good to you as it is 240v.

In addition to all the above, make sure the blade you are using is capable of cutting 3/4 maple. Iggy.

Sorry GB. that was a lazy title, I have no ex-wife. I met this one on the day I landed in the UK. 0n 19 Feb 1962 when I was 18 and she is still the most dependable asset in my tool box. On our first wedding anni, she bought me a little BBS20 3 wheeled bandsaw that is as good today as it was then after 44 years. That started me on the DIY path and out from under her feet good move Fran. She gets ***** from me. Iggy.

The old bed was an upholstered POS. that we got when we married 45 years ago and had no money, when I took the cover off to break it down, the frame was rough sawn 2 x 1 glued and stapled togeather. the only point in its favour was that it was dry. it got unseramoniously cut up and taken to the dump. Just like us after serving a company with distinction for years.         ;)     Iggy

Vibration free would be good, that would make it silent as well, then I could use it in one of the spare bedrooms over winter. after all, the car has a drive train, engine, prop shaft, gear box, and back axle, and that does not vibrate. everything is mounted on rubber blocks, perhaps that is what is missing.  iggy.
