That is impressive but I think I'd lose the metal strap. It detracts from the over all image. <GRIN>

I have found using Hard Maple I prefer a #5 polar blade usually I use a fdur#3 for 3/4 stock but maple is much harder to cut. just my 2 cents. I've only cut several thousand puzzles...LOL

Too avoid getting sawdust under the tape you need do a sanding of the work piece and you always need to to tack the top of the board before applying the tape after your sanding of the work piece. Use a tack cloth or a clean cloth and wipe any loose dust off the board.
I do not add anything to my blades to lubricate as it may cause a stain on the wood.

This is an inherit problem with this saw as well as some of the 788's. There is no easy fix. In time you will learn to live with the aggressive cutting.
