Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Making one off small pieces.
« on: June 03, 2011, 02:53:41 pm »
Using a runner or backer on a planner works well.  A thickness sander (drum sander) works also.  My sander will run a piece 3" long.  If the piece is small you can mount a sanding drum in a drill press, attach a board as a fence and feed it through against the rotation of the drum to create a mini drum sander (saw the idea in a magazine recently).

Could easily be malware of some sort.  I would suggest downloading and running malwarebytes.  It is free and can solve a lot of problems introduced by malware.

If the message truly comes from Microsoft, you could also download the latest version of Internet Exploader and install that, but I wouldn't recommend using it as your browser.

Really cute Frank!  Now you could make another larger kitty box as a bandsaw box to collect them in.  How's your hand?

Same experience for me Ed.  I have bought from them online as well as at the Woodworking show in Tampa.  No bad experiences so far!

Yep!  I ordered the pattern bit set, the self-centering drill bit set, and a template guide for keyhole slots.  good deals!

Router tables are great!  cgswss I went a similar route as you.  I had an old Craftsman table, but it was too small.  I bought a router lift and installed that in my extension table on my Unisaw.  It is so versatile and accurate now!  Jessem recently came out with a new model that is a good bit less expensive than the older ones, but still has sufficient strength and good engineering.  About the same time, Home Depot ran a clearance on a 2 1/4 hp Porter Cable router at $89.  It was too good a combo to pass up.

You can almost certainly get a 1/4" collet, but if all else fails there are reducing sleeves which let ou adapt your 1/2 collet to 1/4'" bits.

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Blade tension loosened when not in use?
« on: April 29, 2011, 02:39:56 pm »
Bluesuede,  I always release tension on the bandsaw to, and usually on the scrollsaw, but i think it is muchmore crucial on the bandsaw.  If the bandsaw is tensioned it affects the tires, and can put a somewhat permanent bump in the blade.
