Increase tension on your blade, slow down your speed and cut the outer portion of the circle counter clockwise this will help compensate for blade drift.  Try using a #5 or #7 instead of the #9.

Nicely done!  How much are you able to get for your portrait style cuttings in your area?

Nicely done I really like the wood chosen.

Judy.  Looks like you decided on a price for them and they are adorable "Critter Pals".

If you Google the spelling of Filet.  if it has to do with fish it is Filet.  Fillet is a welding term.

You are looking for the "filet" spelling if you are going to use it in a fishing context. "Fillet" is a type of weld. ...

However you decide, your 2 examples look very nice.

For that set screw.  After you adjust it you need to put a drop of loc tite on it so it stays put.  Be sure to use the "BLUE" loc tite not the red.

I made a sign with prices on it and descriptive photos that i place next to them.
It helps a lot for them to see them in use in a picture.

Russ,
I would think the cedar if it is wrc (western red cedar) would be much to soft and brittle for book marks.

Make a "V" block and cut them on your table saw and then run em through your planer to clean em up.

My experience is ..DO NOT use veneer.  Use plywoods and you can get it online at lots of reputable dealers.  I actually use 1/16" plywood from sloans or wildwood designs for book marks.  They do have some 1/32" ply as well which works quite well.

That is good information to have.  I have heard they are okay for hardwoods but don't carry very good ply.  Nice to have first hand feedback.
