General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Recommendations for a band saw
« on: April 06, 2012, 08:07:42 pm »
Thanks Dan for the info on what is a riser block.  Kind of understand it, but if using a table bench band saw (delta 9") which only has a length upwards of maybe 4" and I do the riser block thing there will be way to much blade with no good support for a straight cut top and bottom????  Are all you that know a lot using the HUGE type of band saws?  I'm just chiming in as I have a question....
Bought NEW tires and yepper was a struggle getting them on, but Yea finally they are on....  Old and New tires do the same thing.  TRACKING....  In order to keep the blade spinning good I have to set the TOP blade on the tire at the REAR of the tire and the bottom TIRE to the front.  So whats wore out?  LOL

Well I thank ALL for your input....  Think I figured since two cut patterns using the sticky back paper peeled of fairly easy this was gonna be the norm., but with 200 inside cuts (lots of lil parts) the paper just did not peel off very easy.
I did use the (Harbor Freight heat gun) heat gun and in some areas it lifted of ok, but the lil areas.  Nopper!  Thought about using the mineral spirits or paint thinner, but thought it would make A MESS of my cut pattern which would be very hard to remove with such fine cutting in most areas.

The Final decision is to stick with what I know works real well....

BLUE PAINTERS TAPE AND SPRAY GLUE....

Richard....  Give me some time to think bout this and will let you know about selling yas the sticky back stock.  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / How do you apply your pattern?
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:00:42 pm »
Back a month ago I posted on buying the Sticky-back sheets for printing the pattern on and applying it to the wood.  (No painters tape)  Well I have some of my experimenting to yack about....Comments are very welcome....

Simple patterns (with not so many inside cuts) using this product was good to the point I told yas I was thru with painters tape n spray glue.  Well unless someone can explain how to remove this product easily I will (and I have) gone back to the good ole blue tape n spray glue.

One pattern I cut with lots n lots of inside cuts took me AGES to get all of it off the wood.

I ordered 250 sheets of 8.5 x 11 sheets.  Still have probably 245....Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Workin with a new blade.
« on: March 19, 2012, 07:52:11 pm »
Howdy Parner....  Blades have different degrees of cutting.  When I started it was good ole Lowes specials.  Now Flying Dutchman is the blade of choice.
Like Mike said the FD-UR blades are my blade of choice.

If you install a new blade....Tension it correctly....  Set speed according to you feelings....guide the wood into the blade with little force....A new blade will last many cuts and will follow the line good.....Blade starts to dull and it will not follow the line good....change blade.  End....  Danny  :+}
