Pattern Requests. / Re: 3d flower

Have a look at this, it might be suitable for what you need
http://scrollsawartist.com/business-card-stand-1.html
I know it says buisness card holder but it should be easily adaptable for a place card holder.

Seriously though Rob, You know we wouldn't raffle you, you're too much fun here - and apart from that , what would Gabby do without his "partner in crime"

I cut this one today, there is no finish on it yet, It's as it came off the saw (not even sanded yet) It's a pattern by "Wild Bill" as usual all comments welcomed.

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Cutting curves etc (a beginner)
« on: June 25, 2013, 01:23:17 pm »
As Dave says, ideally you need to use pinless blades,  I always use FD UR no1 and no3 blades for most of my work and find they cut excellently. The other advantage to using these blades is every third tooth is reversed so the cut leaves next to no "fuzzies" to be sanded off.  I get my blades from Mike at http://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm  His service is excellent and I usually receive the blades within a week. He only charges $3 for shipping (cheaper than most P+P charges in the U.K.) and the blades are cheaper than anywhere else I have found and the flying dutchman blades seem to have less drift when cutting and also stay sharper longer. hope that helps.

Hi Adrian, welcome to the forum, I'm Keith from Cornwall.  Now it's my turn to thank you, for the fantastic back up service you provide at Axminster Tool Centre. (and in particular Darren Windsor) I bought an EX16 from yourselves and it vibrated so bad you exchanged it for a new one, over the next few months you were still unable to sort out the vibration problems in the EX16's and after 5 new machines you then gave me a free upgrade to the EX21. This was a different beast altogether, it ran quiet and smooth with almost no vibration. I did have one problem after a few months which turned out to be a bearing near the motor linkage, this was changed and also the adjuster linkage in the top arm was upgraded to a newer type at the same time. Thanks again for the excellent service you give your customers. If ever you get to come to Cornwall, call in for tea/coffee and tour of the workshop.

Keith
