got it fix.  There was some screws that were lose and the guy tight them up and it sounds like new again i'm so happy now.  I also found out that paste wax is not good for any table saw and scroll saws. This guy told me that this is better the bostik top cote spray and you can get it at www.acmetools.com or order it online or here http://www.amazon.com/Bostik-10220-Aerosol-Top-Cote/dp/B0000223UD/ref=pd_rhf_p_img_1

I have not yet test out the scroll saw yet still sitting in the care it's raining out side and i don't what my little baby to get wet i like her dry.

and thanks for the help everyone.

Ok, now I have a question for you...What is wrong with paste wax on a table saw or scroll saw?????
I have been using Johnson's paste wax on both my table saw and scroll saw and even on my drill press, joiner and planer for years. None of them have rusted or fallen apart so far.
I just want to know why the man told you that. Is it because he doesn't sell paste wax or did he have a serious reason?

I have the 6" Delta bench top jointer. It has a totalof 30" bed. (infeed/ outfeed) It works fine for smaller projects but, as said before, when you get to boards longer than 50", it is useless. I don't have room for anything larger either.
I just bought a bench top planer (De Walt 735) and LOVE IT!! So all I use the jointer for is getting close with one flat side and one edge at 90 degrees and then drag out the planer for thickness and use the table saw to rip the other edge to get 4s lumber.

I'm not sure what you are talking about but, maybe the reason the arm is hard to lift at times is the position of the blade. If the blade arms stop in the higher position it may or may not be easier than if they stop in the lower position. I have an EZ lift on mine and haven't noticed a problem.
As to the noise, the only time I have noticed a difference is when the blade doesn't have enough tension on it. It will rattle some if the blade loosens up while cutting so I just stop and re -adjust the tension on it.
Hope that helps a little.

My dad used to say "Ain't no such thing as the good old days! I've never had it as good as I do now." He was born in 1920 and grew up during the '30s so, you can understand where he was coming from.
Still, it is fun and entertaining to hear of the times gone by, I just wish that mankind would learn from the past or we are destined to repeat it.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: sanding sealer
« on: April 15, 2011, 05:21:39 pm »
Yes, sanding sealer will help with blotching and end grain. Also shellac does the same thing.
If you sand end grain with a finer grit (220 to 400) than the surface, that also will help keep it to a closer color of the long grain of the wood used.
Hope that helps for next time.

I didn't join in to this forum until April 19, 2010.
I don't post as much as some folks but, I don't think that I have missed more than 4 days (vacation time) of checking in over the last year. And, I usually check in 3 or 4 times a day at that.
Time sure flies when your having FUN!!!
Congrats and a big THANK YOU to Steve and all the mods.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Dull, bent, burned and broken blades.
« on: April 12, 2011, 11:25:23 pm »
What do YOU do with them?
This is a subject that I have never seen on this site.
As you know, old, worn out.dull, broken blades can be sharp, very sharp if you get poked or stabbed with one. So how do you handle this problem? If you put your trash in a plastic garbage bag don't put them in the trash can. If you don't get poked maybe someone else will!
OK, I'll tell you what I do with them. I use an old peanut can (or a coffee can) near my saw and as the blade is used up in one way or another it gets tossed in the "dead can" and the top put back on (in case of a spill) and then can be disposed of, can and all, in my regular trash at a later date.
I don't do as much cutting as allot of you guys but, I'm guessing that it will be a long while before you fill that can with 1/16" strips of steel and mean time you will save yourself and others from allot of "band aides", "ouches" and "cussin" not to mention anyone else that might come in contact with those worn out, rusty, broken old blades.
Stay safe and I hope this helps and keeps some one from saying "DOG GONE IT!!!"

Brag Forum / Re: Chess set update
« on: April 11, 2011, 05:00:52 pm »
Bill,
I would like to mention that you do not HAVE to oil walnut to make it darker. Almost any finish will cause it to get darker. So, my point is you can just coat the whole chess board with polyurethane and keep the walnut/maple contrast and the gluing properties without worrying about the oil causing any change in the maple or gluing oiled wood. (wood with oil in it doesn't want to stick worth a hoot.)
I personally like to use clear polyurethane on things like chess boards anyway because it is a more durable finish and holds up well under use.
Just my two cents worth.

Depending on the job at hand, you will soon learn to like the variable speed too. And above all, the compact size is what sold me on it.

I've had real good luck with the ones I use. Vibration doesn't seem to bother it but, I did go off on a weekend and left the light on the whole time and I think the heat finally got it.
They are some what hard to change because of the size of the bulb and the shade surrounding it.
I had tried other bulbs and didn't have much luck until I looked it up in the manual and found it required a 25 watt bulb. Lesser wattage's just don't cut it!

I get mine at Ace Hardware....Part number 3019817....Accent Floodlight Indoor....25 watt   R14 bulb.
I'm sure they can be had at almost any hardware store or even maybe at some grocery or Wallmart type stores.
Just my 2 cents worth.
