After reading the above posts I'm not saving my money for a DeWalt light.  I'll start looking for old goose neck lights.

Glue, glue, glue.  That's why it was invented.
Right?

I'll weigh in on how I understand this to work.
The pattern maker has the copyright for the pattern.  He/she created it and is entitled to be compensated for that creative effort.
Assuming you bought or otherwise have permission to use the pattern then you are the creator of the piece made from that pattern.  You own it and you may sell it.
The copyright holder of the pattern should set their price for that pattern knowing full well the pattern will be used to make a product that can be sold for compensation.  If they sell the pattern to a firm that specializes in making products from patterns they should collect their compensation at the time of sale of the pattern.
One other aspect would be your right to copy the pattern.  I'm assuming you are entitled to make as many copies of the pattern as you wish. Or in the alternative you have bought the pattern for a certain number of copies.

I store my scraps in old salt bags I get for my water softener.  The conform to odd places and are waterproof themselves.  Hey, works for me.

Well I just ordered one off ebay for $49.00 plus $5.95 S&H.  The next question will become what software does everyone use (with it) for pattern creation?  Please, please, please, something easy to learn.

I've been using the Old English lemon oil.  Got it at Home Depot.  I like the way it brings out the grain.

If you are in sticker shock at $469xx keep an eye on Craigslist.. I did and got one for $200.00 still in the box.  No stand or light.

Someone said in another post, "If the ShopVac won't take it, its a keeper".  I agree.

Congratulations, you'll enjoy your "new" saw.  I got mine off Craigslist also for $200.00 still in the box.  Seems a death in the family made it available.  No stand but that was easily remedied.

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Steve, Charlie, et al.......Copyrights?
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:43:07 pm »
I come from the photographic community and what many of us do there is file a copyright annually using the government forms available online at: http://www.copyright.gov/forms/.  You must also place the copyright symbol (?) on your work to give notice to anyone attempting to pilfer it.  Read about it at the website given above.  It does not require a lawyer to register it.  It will require a lawyer if someone refuses to comply with your copyright.

Hi Steve,

I got into Scroll Sawing after retiring from the Photographic community.  Copyright is a hot issue there.  So long as you tell the posters that they are responsible I think you are O.K.  In all likelihood the worst that would happen is you would be warned to "cease and desist" on a specific posting(s) at which time you could take the offending material offline.
Sleep easy.
