General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Work Bench Caddy
« on: August 20, 2012, 07:42:30 pm »
Just have to reply to this....  I built the odds n ends that hold things and it just got like someone said big and in my way.  Just buy a PLASTIC holder type thing.  Mine is bout 12" by 10" with different size compartments and it holds EVERYTHING I need.  Still have room left.  Close the lid (Plastic) and shove it in a corner till next time use.
                               Just Love this Forum.... Thanks Steve....  Danny  :+)

And I Thank Everyone for their input.  Sometimes I just get so involved with Everything eles and when I do think about Scrolling I realize its been a week and I haven't got a project planned.  Our whether here in Alabama is slowly turning instead from the mid 90's always to the mid 80's and I find myself thinking more n more about being in my shop more.  Changing of the Yearly Times.  Tks....  Danny  :+)

Hey Gene....Wow! is all I can think of to express my feelings about your ability.
This type of craft is right up my alley.  The more inside cuts the better.  As long as the pattern looks real, real, real, real Good.  Your work is Beautiful....  Danny  :+)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Summer Blues.... :+)
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:26:54 pm »
Well Winter is far behind and Summer is here and its not to much longer before good ole Fall sets in.  Yea!  Vacations are over and just awaiting for Winter again.  Burrrrrrr!
Just wanted to start a odds n ends about the Summer whether.  For me I mostly loose interest in Scrolling and Finishing.  Then come the COOLER whether and Bingo....All changes.  Just wondering if there is any feelings about this subject.  I did notice that the amount of POSTS in the past month or so is less.  Anyway....  Danny  :+)

Hey Rob....Heres my another 2 cents worth....  Looked at your future hobby saw and I can see that with arithis you could experience difficulity.  Looks like the Knob that controls the tension in the back will need to be turned EVERY time you have to cut a inside cut of say a Fretwork project.  Thats loosing the blade (me TOP).  Doesn't look like you can use the PINLESS blades.  Not cool....  Just study up on the operation of the saw and give it a good go.  Scrolling is a Wonderful, Fullfilling Hobby.  Danny :+)

Just had to reply to this....  From starting with Steve Good and him convincing me that Lemon Oil was the way to finish I bought many bottles and used this way for some time.  The Lemon Oil does give say PINE a very Golden appearance and Yes the grain looks good.  Went to the BLO/mixture because a lot were using this method.  Colorwise there really isn't much to holler about.  Used the different colors of Danish Oil in between this.  Moral....  I like to see COLOR in my many different projects.  Even gave the FOOD COLOR a try.  Good to a point, but....  Stains just mess the project up with making the end grain look BAD.  I have as of recently with my Christmas Ornaments experimented with Krylon spray paints.  Just my opinion, but I think they look much better than any other way of finishing.  Just my 2 cents worth....Danny  :+)

Glad to meet Ya's Pappa Rob....  Danny here in Alabama....  You asked and heres my experience.  Started scrolling approx. 6 years ago.  Started with a Lowes cheapie scrollsaw.  Under $100 and this was good at first, but slowly it started having troubles.  Second was another Lowes $125 and again same as the first.  Then I was blessed with my brother giving me a 12 year old Hegner.  Have had it approx. 3 years now and have never had any problems with it.  Long story short in my views is if you can afford a higher priced scrollsaw you will enjoy this hobby more.  Danny  :+}

 Well I can see more Negs. about Bing than Positives, so I am getting closer to uninstalling Bing.  Now....Would anyone say Yes to Google?  I have gotten very use to using it for any and all searches.  Wonderful program, but still am in a learning level about most everything.  Tks again....  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Hegner
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:52:54 pm »
My 18" Hegner was given to me 3 years ago.  Before I had 3 different low cost saws  the did not last very long.  The Hegner is by far a very simply built, but quality operation.

Hey Kenny and others....  Just have not EVER thought about any oiling.  How about a quick run down on what and where to oil.  Feel whierd for asking this.
