General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Craftsman 18" model 113.207600 ?
« on: September 07, 2011, 03:12:07 pm »
I haven't had that particular model, however if you go to this site: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Saw-Parts/Model-113207600/0247/0744440/00001515/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=113207600  You can view the parts diagram and order a manual.  From what I can see it appears that the arm tilts rather than the table which is particular to only one brand I am aware of.  Anyway if it accepts pinless blades and runs, it is worth trying out regardless.  You might want to take a look at the tutorials if you need help getting started.  You have found a great site!  There is a wealth of information available here for free.
By the way, is KM5WX your ham callsign?  If so, mine is WD4OAQ.

It always sounds easy when the teacher explains it.  Until you try to do it yourself!   :'(  That is a good explanation though MRSN.

Russ, it's not strictly for recreational purposes.  You can use it like a kickstand to keep you from rolling out of bed.

Dan,  sometimes I think it can be attributed to how fast things evolve in the pc world.  The components they use this month are obsolete next.  I bet it makes quality control a nightmare.  I have had or dealt with just about every brand, and I have heard nightmare stories about all of them while others sing their praises.  That being said, I like Gateway for my desktops.

Stipes,
I know what you mean.  I enjoy undertaking the large & complex projects sometimes, but it's also great to be able to go out to the scroll saw and complete a project in an evening.  Great feelings of gratification!  I also find that I incorporate scrollsaw work into my other projects now as well.

Wombatie, It's not overkill until you start sharpening the teeth on the blades because they didn't come sharp enough out of the box.

It's not always the brand guys.  I have been using the same Toshiba laptop for about 5 years now (I have several other desktops) and have never had a failure on the laptop.  My son has broken the charging port on 1 through handling.  Every brand sells both top and bottom of the line machines, and you often get what you pay for even within a brand.
