These are for a friends fathers birthday.  John Wayne is one of my patterns that I made a long time ago and the B17 Memphis Belle is by Old Crow DonR, thanks Don.  I always thought scrolling was supposed to be a relaxing hobby but not if you cut the B17,  heart in mouth and hold your breath cutting this one. :o  Only had one minor hiccup but won't tell you where.  :-*  They are both cut from 3mm marine ply.  Hope you like them.

The Coffee Shop / Hospital Regulations.
« on: January 25, 2013, 12:34:29 am »
Hospital regulations require a wheel chair for patients being
discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one
elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a
suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the
hospital.
After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him
to the elevator.
On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.
'I don't know,' he said. 'She's still upstairs in the bathroom changing
out of her hospital gown.'

The Coffee Shop / Australia
« on: January 25, 2013, 12:32:27 am »
We are certainly a country with diverse weather conditions.  Since Christmas we have virtually had no rain to speak of in Victoria but at the moment Queensland are experiencing floods.  Because of the heat and the dry conditions every state has had and still has bush fires.  Western Australia had a cyclone at the beginning of the year and not far from where I live we had an earthquake, not a large one but we still had one.  And we call ourselves the lucky country, I would hate for us to be unlucky.

The Coffee Shop / Rose???????
« on: January 18, 2013, 01:05:25 am »
An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after
eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out
to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very
highly.'
The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What's the name of
that flower you give to someone you love?  You know, the one that's red
and has thorns.'
'Do you mean a rose?'
'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the
kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went
to last night?'

The Coffee Shop / Memory Problems.
« on: January 17, 2013, 12:24:01 am »
Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things.
During a check-up, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay,
but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember
..
Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his
chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.
'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?'
'Sure.'
'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she
asks.
'No, I can remember it.'
'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write
it down, so as not to forget it?'
He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with
strawberries.'
'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it
down?' she asks.
Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it!
Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness
sake!'
Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man
returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a moment.
'Where's my toast?'

Christmas Story

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre -Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two   others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.

In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?

And thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

Brag Forum / Lucky Last
« on: December 17, 2012, 12:44:23 am »
Lucky last for the year.  First I would like to thank Old Crow DonR for his help with these. Don did the pattern of the boy and I did the pattern of the girl but Don looked it over for me and that was a great help.  Thanks Don.
I actually stack cut 4 which is a first for me and I am happy to say that no one lost an eye this time. LOL  The wood is 3mm Hoop Pine marine ply and the frame came from a $2 & More shop and cost about $5.00.   Hope you like it.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Not happy
« on: November 28, 2012, 12:15:32 am »
I was happily working away on a portrait for my neighbor of her kids and it broke, no hope of gluing the piece back in, too small, but an intricate part she won't look good with no eye, and no hope of starting another until I get some more wood on Friday.  Only solution was to start something else.
