The Coffee Shop / Off to College

My son started college yesterday! Not the grand departure we had hoped as it is the local community college, Ten minutes away. But college non the less. I told him at dinner last night that from this point on, he is doing something I did not do, so make the best of it. Here's hoping he does!

My version of Steve's Wooden Gear Clock. This was a fun project! The gears were easier to cut than I expected. The frame is red Oak. The gears are Walnut, Maghony, Purple Heart and Red Heart. The feet are Mahogany. Cut with flying Dutchman UR 1 and 5 blades. The clock insert I had was a little bigger than the one listed. No problem, I adapted the plan to fit. Finised with a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Top coated with Deft semi gloss spray lacquer.

I have made about 35 so far. They are to be sold at two different shows this year. Woods used are Walnut, Cherry, Red Oak, Spanish Ceder, Ash and Sapele. All 1/8". I cut in stacks of four sides at a time, and four centers at a time. Used Flying Dutchman UR1 blades. I have not decided on price yet, but thinking in the ballpark of $8.

Made from 1/2" Sapele. Cut with Flying Dutchman UR1 and UR3 blades. Finished with a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, and top coated with Deft semi gloss spray lacquer.

I didn't want to hijack GB's post of the 40 year marriage, so I will start a new post.
If you were granted One wish, would it be wealth? Health? Fame? For me, I think it would be complete, perfect health. If I had perfect health, I would be able to go out and make my wealth. How about you?

Last Weekend I was cleaning out my shop, and I found this Bass round blank. They are available at craft stores such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I thought I needed to do something with it. I found the pattern in an old book by Rick and Karen Longabaugh: 400 Full-Size Mini-Clocks. Cut with a Flying Dutchman UR1 blade. Finished with my BLO-mineral spirits mix, then top coated with semi gloss spray lacquer.
My question to you guys, Does the clock thing work, or should I not do them with the clock.
