General Scroll Saw Talk / Table Saw decision forced!
« on: March 04, 2012, 07:23:33 pm »
Put my 2 1/2 year old Skil table saw on craigslist yesterday at 5:30 p.m.
Had 5 potential buyers by 9:30 a.m. and it was picked up and cash in my pocket by 2:30p.m. today!
Bought that saw recon from CPO 2 1/2 years ago for $99 with free shipping and got $80 for it. Ten bucks a year is cheap rental!

Decided to go with the Bosch GTS1031.
More than adequate for what I need and reviews were most favorable except for the guys who wanted a $350 portable saw to do the job of a $1,500 cabinet saw. I call them either 'dummies' or "Tool Snobs".

Will be gone for a few days so will order when I am away so it is delivered Friday then I can play all weekend.

I will review the Bosch as I get into using it.

Dana Perino (FOX News),

describing an interview she recently had with a Navy SEAL.

After discussing all the countries that he had been sent to,

she asked if they had to learn several languages?

"No ma'am, we don't go there to talk."

Looking at upgrading from my $89 Skil recon table saw and this seems to be a definite possibility for my space and financial requirements.
Lots of good reviews and a few 'nit-pickers'.

Comments?

The Coffee Shop / C.I. moments still occurring!
« on: March 01, 2012, 09:20:14 am »
One of our local colleges has a very nice, brand new performing arts center and last night went to hear the St. Petersburg Russian Symphony. First time to HEAR a full size symphony orchestra in a LONG time!
The fine tuning has really brought a lot of 'new' sounds out for me.
Really enjoying walking around outside and HEARING the birds chirp and sing and the geese honking as they take off and land on the pond out back!
40 MPH winds yesterday afternoon and I was at the local mall. Outside waiting for my friend to pick me up I heard this snapping and popping and realized it was the huge American flag about a block away just flapping in the wind.
Can't wait to get to the ballpark and hear the sounds of the bat hitting the ball....

Thank the Lord for all he has done for me this past year!

and saw this...http://cutncrown.com/index.php

Pretty neat setup but only if you like to do fancy crown moulding or you do lots of trim work.

20 years ago I would have bought it in a heartbeat but can't justify it now.

The Coffee Shop / Sometimes it does take a "Rocket Scientist"!
« on: February 22, 2012, 07:26:27 pm »

Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back- rest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the U.S. scientists for suggestions.

NASA responded with a one-line memo, "Defrost the chicken."

The Coffee Shop / Grandma's Boyfriend!!!!!!!
« on: February 16, 2012, 09:56:27 pm »
A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day.
Playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting, he looked up and said, 'Grandma, how come you don't have a boyfriend now that Grandpa went to heaven?'

Grandma replied, 'Honey, my TV is my boyfriend. I can sit in my bedroom and watch it all day long.
The religious programs make me feel good and the comedies make me laugh ... I'm happy with my TV as my boyfriend.'

Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible. She started adjusting the knobs, trying to get the picture in focus. Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV hoping to fix the problem.

The little boy heard the doorbell ring, so he hurried to open the door and there stood Grandma's minister.

The minister said, 'Hello son, is your Grandma home?'

The little boy replied,
'Yeah, she's in the bedroom bangin' her boyfriend.'
