Brag Forum / Another Project Cut
« on: July 25, 2012, 02:34:39 pm »
I just finished cutting another project (With a lot of "breath holding" during the cutting lol). It's a Celtic Cross with Dragons. It still needs sanding and a finish put on it, at the minute it's just sitting on a black card. I stacked cut three out of 4mm Birch ply. I made the mistake of sticking them together for cutting using masking tape around the edge of the stack, and when I was cutting near the edge the tape was coming off the underside and sticking to the table so it stopped sliding and left sticky residue over the table. I had to cut a little bit then remove the loose tape and put another bit over the remaining tape it to stop it catching, and clean the table each time. I will be looking at a different method of holding the stack together next time.
Hope you like it.

The Coffee Shop / 3 Surgeons
« on: July 24, 2012, 06:26:06 pm »
Three surgeons were discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon said "Electricians are the best, everything inside is colour coded."

The second surgeon says
"No, I think librarians are, everything inside them is in alphabetical order"

The third surgeon shuts them up when he says
"You're all wrong, Politicians are the easiest to operate on.
There's no guts, no heart,no balls, no brains and no spine.
Plus the head and the ass are interchangeable"

I have made a framed plaque for my woodturning club, we had one made from all different veneers inlaid to make the club badge, bit it went missing so I made this one to replace it. The cat bowl is a free plan from Sheila Landry Designs, and the Dragonflys are thanks to Judy Hunter.

The Coffee Shop / The Bad Parrot
« on: July 21, 2012, 04:38:56 pm »
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift.
The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.
Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.

John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.
Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.

Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer..
The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions.
I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behaviour, the bird spoke-up, very softly,

"May I ask what the turkey did?"

The Coffee Shop / New Guard dog
« on: July 14, 2012, 02:57:05 pm »
I got a new dog to guard our house. It was a little more than I thought I should pay but I think when word gets out we'll be a relatively crime free neighborhood.

The nice part is he is a year old and already fully trained. For your safety you might want to call the house from the driveway and in the safety of your car!
see picture.

The Coffee Shop / British Soldiers to go on strike
« on: July 09, 2012, 05:45:02 am »
Our government should be shot for what it is doing to our troops. Cutting troop numbers back so far we soon won't be able to defend ourself, and worse, sending them into war zones without the proper kit.
They even started to train our troops to drive fuel tankers when the tanker drivers were going to go on strike. Then I saw the following picture and had to snigger ......
