Another activity the woodworking club participates in is cutting wood cutouts for the local Adult Daycare Center. A different member cuts out a set every month for the disabled adults to paint. This is my contribution for October. Cut from 3/4" pine, took me about two hours this morning.

This Past Sunday was our woodworkers club annual summer picnic. I was asked to do a scroll saw demo. I spent about three hours cutting Round Tuits. You Know, When I get around to it. I cut about 50 of these, stack cut four layers of 1/8" Baltic birch. Gave them away to anyone who wanted one. For demo porpoises, I didn't cut the backer.

Here are a couple of pull toys I have made for the annual toy drive for our woodworkers club.
The Grasshopper is made from Mahogany and Walnut. The eyes are made from 1" dowel. I cut the Walnut wheels with a hole saw.
The Duck is made from Red Alder with purchased wheels. The wings move up and down when pulled. As all my projects, Finished with boiled linseed oil mineral spirits mix, and topcoat with Deft spray lacquer.

The Coffee Shop / Reply to Steve.
« on: August 14, 2010, 02:26:32 pm »
Steve, Since we can't reply to your post in Bulletins and News on the forum speed I will reply here. We appreciate you efforts in solving the problem with shared space.
I know it is expensive to pay for  dedicated space. With that in mind I think I speak for many here that we could put up with a little advertising to help with that expense. Most other forums I visit have advertising to pay for their site, so I see no problem with that happening here!

This is a clock I made for a niece's wedding. Made from 1/4" maple and 1/8" mahogany. It's  billed as an anniversary clock, but I thought it would make a nice wedding gift. Pattern by Wildwood Designs.

Since Steve is out of commission, I'll ask you. What do you think about a Christmas ornament exchange between the members or something like that. I would not have any idea how to organize this but I bet someone on here would love to do it.
What do you think?

The Coffee Shop / Forum speed and personal messages
« on: August 01, 2010, 02:01:06 pm »
Like many of you on this forum it has been very slow here lately. I have done all the maintenance necessary on my computer to speed it up, but still slow here. I went into my history on this forum and found tons of personal messages and replies. I deleted them all, and now it seems back up to speed!
