The Coffee Shop / Poor Guy
« on: October 20, 2011, 09:06:46 am »
A lady looked at everything there was at the yard sale, when she went to pay for her stuff she mentioned how mad her husband was going to be for her stopping. The owner said well just tell him about all the bargains you got today. The lady said it won't matter he broke his leg this morning and is waiting in the car for me to take him to the hospital.  ::)  ::)  ::)

The Coffee Shop / Home With Our New Marine
« on: October 15, 2011, 07:24:29 am »
Thanks to all my family/friends here on the forum for all the thoughts/prayers and posts in the topic "We Have Arrived Parris Island SC". We are back home now. Arrived about 9:00pm EST last might with Cory, my son the new Marine. We had a fantastic it time in South Carolina and I am so very proud of him. I have never experienced anything like it, watching 528 young men marching in formation for the USMC graduation ceremony is just amazing and fantastic. Even more special when your son is one of them. I cannot put into words all the emotions and feelings I have experienced this past week. I guess now it is back to catching up on reading posts etc, oh and spending time with Cory for the next twenty days. :)

Thanks
Russ

The Coffee Shop / USMC The Crucible
« on: October 03, 2011, 07:32:46 pm »
As my son Cory and his Platoon 2083 at Parris Island begin week 11 - The Crucible ~ I am asking all my friends on the forum to please earnestly lift him and his fellow recruits up in your prayers from October 4-7 as they embark on The Crucible, USMC The Crucible It is a rite of passage from recruit to U.S. Marine and each of these young men will have earned the title with every labored step, drop of sweat, and through fierce determination, as it is a title that is Earned and Never Given. My deepest gratitude to each of you as I covet your prayers for these young men who have chosen to serve our country, defend our freedoms, & our way of life.

The Crucible is the 54-hour culmination to the transformation of recruit training. It is a physically and mentally challenging event that involves food and sleep deprivation and the completion of various obstacles for the potential Marine to negotiate.

Basic Facts
Recruits will travel 48 miles on foot during the event.
There are 29 problem-solving exercises during the Crucible.
It consists of 36 different stations.
The recruits will have three meals, ready-to-eat (MREs) during the 54 hours.
The recruits will be required to carry 45 pounds during the Crucible, in addition to 782 gear, uniform and M16 A2 service rifle weight.

Cory and his Platoon 2083 will Graduate October 14, 2011 upon completing The Crucible.

Thank you, Russ

The Coffee Shop / Seniors Sometimes Forget
« on: September 16, 2011, 01:08:48 pm »
AN ELDERLY GENT WAS INVITED TO A FRIEND'S HOME FOR DINNER ONE EVENING. HE WAS
IMPRESSED BY THE WAY HIS BUDDY PRECEDED EVERY REQUEST TO HIS WIFE WITH ENDEARING
TERMS SUCH AS: HONEY, MY LOVE, BABY, SWEETHEART, DARLING, ETC... THE COUPLE HAD
BEEN MARRIED ALMOST 70 YEARS AND, CLEARLY, THEY WERE STILL VERY MUCH IN LOVE.
WHILE THE WIFE WAS IN THE KITCHEN, THE MAN LEANED OVER TO HIS HOST AND SAID: "I
THINK IT'S WONDERFUL THAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, YOU STILL CALL YOUR WIFE THOSE
LOVING PET NAMES." THE OLD MAN HUNG HIS HEAD, SIGHED, AND SAID: "I HAVE TO TELL
YOU THE TRUTH, HER NAME SLIPPED MY MIND ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO AND I'M SCARED TO
DEATH TO ASK THE OLD BAT WHAT IT IS!"
 :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

The Coffee Shop / Angels Visited
« on: August 18, 2011, 01:44:24 pm »
In Loving Memory of Ester Dejesus

God sent Angels to visit us today,
And on wings of Love Grandma flew away.
Come home my child our father said,
On my lap lay your weary head.
Welcome to heaven, there are no sorrows,
No pain, no suffering, no worries of tomorrow.
You fought the battle and now have won,
You are home now with the Father and the Son.
Heaven?s the place Grandma now will be,
Her new home for all eternity.

Your continued thoughts and prayers at this time is appreciated.
Russ

The Coffee Shop / Prayer Appreciated
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:31:34 am »
I only have a few minutes so, my wifes grandmother who is 99 years old is passing. It has been somewhat expected and the family has tried to prepare themselves but they are really having a hard time. She was a corner stone in this family and such a wonder lady. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I won't be able to be here for awhile. Thank you all so very much.  :(
