Participated in the 33rd annual art festival.  It is juried and was a lot of fun.  Here are some pictures of my space.

It was not the best I have ever done there but I still made profit for the day.  There were 52 vendors this year.  I think it was the threat of thunderstorms that held folks back a bit.  Still it was a fun day.

Brag Forum / Golf Birds
« on: June 20, 2012, 07:51:42 am »
In the August 2012 Creative Woodworks & Crafts they had these birds made from golf balls.  The ones I made were based on them.  The only scroll work were the wings, head feathers and in one case the head/beak.  Painted with acrylic.

These are the shells that I have recently made.  All of them have been finished with beeswax paste.

This one was cut from a 2x4

This one was cut from white cedar

This one was cut from a pine glueup

This is a picture of all of the shells to date.  Notice that none of them are exactly the same.  Some are going to be planters, some will be potpourri holders.

This is my first shell.  The concept and general instructions came out of the latest SSW&C Magazine Summer 2012 issue 47.  I used appleply from Lowes for the shell and black walnut for the ring base.  The shell was finished with beeswax paste wax.

Brag Forum / Bloodwood Executive Desk Box
« on: April 22, 2012, 09:47:56 pm »
I found a great buy on Bloodwood at my local Woodcraft store.  The box is 7 inches wide, 9 inches long and 1 inch deep.  Bloodwood is dense, hard on scroll saw blades but takes glue and finishes well.  I used teak oil finish on this on then flocked the inside with a Kelly Green flocking.  The lid has a liner of 1/4 inch thick cedar.

Made this puzzle box from a piece of wood I call Tiger Maple because of the stripes.  Sealed with tung oil and then I used the homemade beeswax paste.
